5 point night for Dacry Ashley helps Moose past Wildcats

The Darcy Ashley show took the stage last night in Halifax at the Metro Centre as the Mooseheads defeated the Wildcats by a 7-1 margin.
For the Wildcats it’s their 3rd straight loss and it drops their record to 5-6 on the season and remains 2 pts behind the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles for 1st in the Maritime Division.
It was another slow start for The Cats who just 0:26 seconds into the game the Mooseheads were up 1-0 on a scramble play in front of Roman Will Darcy Ashley gets his first on what turns out to be a big night for the second year forward from Prince Edward Island. Luca Ciampini and Nathan MacKinnion draw the assists. For Ashley it was his 4th of the season. At the 3:57 mark the Mooseheads would go up 2-0 with Gabriel Desjardins collecting a loose puck firing past Roman Will. Alexandre Grenier takes the puck in loses control of it Mathieu Boudreau would get a shot off Will makes the save and Desjardins would put home the rebound and quickly the Mooseheads are up 2-0. Before the end of the 1st the Wildcats would cut the deficit in half as Marek Hrivik fires home a wrist shot over the shoulder of Anthony Terenzio. It was a Power Play marker at 18:19. Patrick Delisle-Houde, one a 3 game point streak and Brandon Gormley with the assists. Shots after 20 minutes were 13-8 Moncton.
From the 2nd on it was all Mooseheads. Darcy Ashley’s big night would continue as he would counter for his second of the night shorthanded marker with assists going to Brent Andrews who sent Ashley in all alone and goes five hole on Roman Will and it was 3-1 4:21 into the 2nd period. Rookie Nathan MacKinnion would add to the Mooseheads lead with His 3rd of the year at 6:52. Luca Ciampini and Darcy Ashley drawing the assists. 4-1 for the Moose. They wouldn’t e done there as they would take a 5-1 lead on their first power play of the night and yet again Darcy Ashley at 13:53. Konrad Abeltshauser with the assist . Shots in the second period were 13-7 Halifax.
Just 2 goals both from the Mooseheads in the 3rd period with Ashley collecting his 4th of the evening. Another mad scramble in front of the Cats goal. Will made the initial save and Ashley fires home the rebound and a 6-1 lead. MacKinnion and Ciampini with the assists. Then Cameron Critchlow would round out the scoring with his first of the season as he fires a one-timer past Roman Will. Abeltshauser with the lone assist and it would round out the scoring.
Things got ugly at the end of the game with a couple of fights breaking out at the buzzer with 4 players receiving games misconducts. Delisle-Houde and Ryan Penny for the Wildcats and Brent Andrews and Sawyer Hannay. For The Mooseheads. Final shots were 32-29 Moncton.
Wildcats look to snap their 3 game slide on Friday when they travel to Sydney for a date with the Screaming Eagles at Centre 200. Game time is 7PM with the pre-game show starting at 6:30
