By Jeff Robichaud News 91.9
The Moncton Wildcats host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the lone QMJHL game on the schedule tonight at the Moncton Coliseum. Game time is 7PM.
Coming into tonight’s action the Titan are 2-0 with a 15-4 goals for and against ratio. The Wildcats come into tonight’s action at a record of 1-1 and an even 4 goals and against.
The Line of former Wildcats Mathew Bisonette and Zach O’Brien along with Sebastien Trudeau have mustered most of the offence for the team out of la Baie de Chaleur with 11 of the teams 15 goals. It should be interesting to see how the Wildcats contain that big trio tonight when the teams clash.
On the flip side of things for the Wildcats offence has been hard to come by and they need more balanced scoring from their second and third lines. The offence has come from the Saulnier twins who each have 3 points. Alex with 3 goals and Allain with 3 assists.
Entering tonight’s action the Wildcats have the best penalty killing in the league. They have successfully killed off all 10 power plays against them this season. Where on the power play the Wildcats are 1for 8. Keep in mind that the Wildcats are without their 2 top quarterback defensemen in Brandon Gormley and Dan Milan. Gormley a first round pick in 2010 by the Phoenix Coyotes it’s uncertain when his return will happen and Milan who is attending his first NHL camp as a free agent invitee could be back in the next few weeks.
The Titan coming into tonight’s action currently rank 2nd in the league on the power play clicking at 50% with the man advantage a solid 6 for 12. Shorthanded they rank 7th. Allowing 3 goals in 15 shorthanded opportunities.
