Miss Janice, faithful production assistant with her own Raceline Radio Network crew shirt commented on our way home she has never seen the Canadian IndyCar power trio so relaxed!
But at the same time, I haven’t see the “old” Tag in so long, it was great to see the lad so wired!
Alex Tagliani, Paul Tracy and James Hinchcliffe were in Toronto yesterday, our friends at the Honda Indy Toronto had them at the mammoth Real Sports Bar and Grill for a casual wings-and-nacho’s lunch to talk about the Indy 500.
Tagliani was bouncing with joy about being on the pole, his eyes were as big as saucers, talking a blue streak, so wired and pumped about P-1, and how he’ll have to slow his heart rate down for the start.
Hilarious tales about being in such high media and fan demand he’s had to wave off requests so he can go to the bathroom!
PT and Tag know Miss Janice, and Hinch impressed her very much, his manner and poise much more mature than his 24 years.
Nice gash on the bridge of his nose after a “planking” stunt on the wall at the Brickyard.
Ah…. there’s the kid in the kid!
Hinch has been so damn good in his first Indy 500 attempt. Rookie orientation was a dog-walk, and inside of row 5, 13th for his first 500 trip is simply beyond splendid.
Paul was nice and relaxed between bites of nacho’s and gulps of diet coke. He’s got a fast car, and he’s in good shape in row 9.
His tale about the car sliding around in the rain during bump day qualifying but refusing to lift reminds us how incredibly brave these guys are.
It was a great sound-gathering day with 3 guys who have become Raceline Radio friends who have done all Canadian fans proud by making the Indy 500!
Tag’s pole makes it extra sweet.
“Theeeeeeeeeeey’re ) ON IT!!
Later this week, watch for another Indy 500 preview on FAN590.com audio on demand.
