Ok.
I didn’t get the response I waas looking for with the “Should Michael Schumacher be fired for his showing since coming back from retirement” question.
Fine and dandy.
Then let’s try this one as we reach the half-way mark of the NASCAR Sprint Cup “Chase for the Championship”.
WILL JIMMIE JOHNSON WIN A 5TH STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP, AND IF NOT, WHO WILL WIN IT INSTEAD?
I’ll use them on the air if that’s cool, but let me know what you think. Johnson’s performance at Charlotte was so typical of the # 48 squad. A dog of a car, stay patient, fix it, adjust it, and the next thing you know, he’s finishing in the top 5, and ahead of Denny Hamlin.
Cudo’s to Denny, as we seem to be looking at this chase from a Johnson-streak point of view. Hamlin has been amazingly good and consistent.
He would be the natural pick to stop Johnson from winning 5.
I won’t abandon by prediction as the NASCAR season started: Johnson will make it 5 in a row.
What do YOU think? That’s a LOT more important!

I really hope he doesn’t but if he does I hope NASCAR dumps the chase. I’m not a McMurray fan but wonder where would he be points wise if there was no chase. The best he can do is 13th in points. If 48 wins the chase again; to me its not so much that Jimmie is a good driver. It’s that he has a great crew chief. If the Hendrick cars all have the same stuff why is 48 better? Five in a row is great for them but after a while people want someone else.
- JAMES CONRADThere is no doubt in my mind Jimmie Johnson will win his 5th straight Cup. The poise and determination he and the entire team shows this time of year is simply unmatched. I have not been a fan of his as I have stated here many times but as I told Erik in Feb. it is time to drink the Kool Aid, stop hating, stop making excuses for “my guy” and just give credit where it is much deserved. No one works harder and being the best at what they do than Jimmie, Chad, and the entire #48 team.
That said Go Tony!!!!!!!!
- Eric NordhoffNot even NASCAR would want to see six in a row. So that being said I’m willing to bet the chase will be changed or hopefully dumped. The chase hasn’t been the ratings bonanza they had hoped for. Football is king in the fall so how do you compete. Go 24
