Archive for June, 2010

For the life of me, I do NOT understand people.

Here’s the release from NASCAR:

Chris Moore, a crew member for the No. 43 team ( Driver: AJ Allmendinger ) in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy. On June 22, Moore was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2010 NASCAR Rule Book.

The Petty organization has fired Moore.

And last week, former driver Randy Lajoie was cited after admitting on a radio show he had smoked pot as recently as last month. Randy hasn’t raced in 4 years, but got “dipped” when he applied to be a spotter for Joe Gibbs’ Nationwide effort.

What don’t I get?

Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY knows NASCAR has ZERO tolerance, and stiff penalties when it comes to substance abuse, yet we still have participants using dope!

What is the thought process here?

Are they that high that they figure they will never be caught?

The random testing NASCAR does means there is a very good chance if you use dope, you WILL be caught… eventually!
