Joe’s away….Tom and Alix will play
Tuesday, November 29th, 2011
Joe’s off to his adopted home Las Vegas this week. It’s rum o’clock for him 24/7 with lots of gamblin’ mixed in. You know he’ll have a great time, and we’ll catch all the stories next week when he returns.
In the meantime, Alix, Bubba and I are still rockin each morning.
Caught up with Jovon ‘Duece’ Johnson of the Bombers this morning. He was in pretty good spirits despite the Cup loss. He plainly stated they just didn’t play well enough. But he’s lookin forward to signing a long term contract with the Bombers and getting it going again in the new stadium next year. Great to see lots of fans at the airport for them yesterday when they came home. Great story about selling his old Grey Cup ring too! You can find the interview on the Tom and Joe page on our site here.
Check out the video of an amazing one handed catch in a college game as well.
We’ll check in with Howard in London England with Deep Purple tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to enter to win Beat the Boxoffice tics all week.
We had Mighty John the record guy on with the values of some Rock Christmas records. Did you know Jimi Hendrix recorded Little Drummer Boy? If you can find a copy, it’s worth a bunch. The list of the Top 12 is up on the Tom and Joe page too.
Check out the pic of Bubba with his mini paper Bubba, with a link to make your own on the Citi Facebook page. We put it up at the start of the show this morning.
Have a great day.
Catch you in the morning.

It’s a big day for NFL fans today because of the traditional U.S. Thanksgiving games. Here are my picks:
The undefeated Green Bay Packers are in Detroit for the early game against the Lions. For some reason I like this game to be a close one and be within 3 points…. The Packers are favored by 6.5 on Sports Select.
The afternoon game features Dallas at home in the palace against the Miami Dolphins. Tony Sparano has managed a couple of wins with the Dolphins in back-to-back weeks, but the Cowboys have been good lately as well… I’ll take the Cowboys.
Tonight’s matchup is actually a good one for a change, San Francisco takes on Baltimore… The 49′ers have been the surprise of the league, but I’m betting on Baltimore at home.
Let the games begin!
Joe.

Bombers in the Grey Cup!!! Should be a great game. Remember to enter to win your home party in our Vip club on the site.
How about Crosby’s comeback game last night. Unbelieveable!! One of the best ever!! I just love watching great players play! One of my buddies already has him pegged for the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer!
Now that we have our Jet’s back, doesn’t it seem like every game day is an event no matter where you watch it? Now I hate it when they don’t play for two or three days in a row…ha ha. Next game tomorrow night. I predict the winning streak continues!
Demi and Ashton breakup……some reports Demi was into girls….who would have known?
Listen each morning this week for a bonus code to win tics in the first 3 rows for the return of the WWE in Jan.
American Thanksgiving this week. All our American friends should be booking off work around now til next Monday…ha ha
Btw….Occupy Winnipeg……what are they still doing there??…it’s getting cold!!

Back from Vegas

Always a great time in Vegas! Always great to get back home and rejoin the morning show too!
Some observations about Vegas that hold true every time. If you buy one of those drinks in the containers shaped like everything from a long bong to a guitar, that are so big, they come with a shoulder strap, you will not feel great the next day! At the same time, you won’t care much, cuz you’re in Vegas and everyone had one yesterday anyway, so you’re all on the same wavelength.
If you pass by a beer tub and some young scantilly clad girl is shouting out 2 for 1 Buds, you will pay the full price for 2 beers every time. The 2 for 1 deal has about a 2 minute window. Again though, you won’t care, cuz it is ice cold and you can carry it down the street with you as you’re enjoying it!
Your money will last a lot longer if you play table games like blackjack and bet conservatively than it does if you pump it into the slot machines. Either way they’re coming by giving you free drinks all the time anyway, and you lose track of what you’re losing, and once again, don’t seem to care!
However much a ticket to a show costs will dictate how good the show is probably going to be. It’s worth paying for the good ones, like the Circ shows. Afterall, you’ll win the money back after the show in the casino right?
Oh, one last thing, everyone you meet is in a great mood and very friendly(may have something to do with those big bong drinks!) You’ll make lifelong friends whose names you won’t remember tomorrow.
Actually one more last thing. No matter how much you may win at some point during your trip, you will come home with 3 American dollars and be very proud of that!
Great to be back home!!
Catch you in the morning.
Tom
UNFRICKIN-BELIEVABLE !!!!
Thursday, November 3rd, 2011
So, I asked my “partners,” if they wouldn’t mind me taking over the blog again today. Usually we like to take turns on writing, but, I’M SO ANGERED this morning, I feel I need to write again.
As you may have seen, or heard on the news, the sewage plant in south Winnipeg, has had issues now for a few weeks. Apparently, the micro-organisms which are used to treat the water before it gets turned loose into the Red River, have been mysteriously dying. But, even though that knowledge was known, the city kept on dumping the sewage into the Red.
Now the Red River is “dirty” on the best of days. Sadly, you can find everything from shopping cars to bodies in it. But now SEWAGE TOO???!!
Here’s my beef with all of this……..why did it take 3 weeks for this information to get released?! And what’s up with the frickin double speak ? In one breath, officials are saying, there’s really nothing to worry about. But then, they go on to say that if you even TOUCH water from the Red right now, you should wash your hands thoroughly. And when it comes to fishing??? Okay, here’s where I get really angry………..
Officials are saying that all fishermen and women, should WASH AND BOIL their catches before eating them !!! Well if you’re a fisherperson, you know that for the past few weeks it’s been Greenback season. (pickerel) This is one of the busiest times on the Red, as those fish are great eating. So, the knowledge of the spill and boil advisory would have been nice to know BEFORE the fish were caught and eaten. The Dude came home with gorgeous pickerel last weekend….fortunately, we didn’t eat them right away and rather froze them. Now, they’re going right into the garbage. But, what if we had eaten them? What would have happened?
Shame on you city officials……..
Howbout takin pride in not only the city…but our rivers too !!!
My Night with St. B Wildlife Crew !
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011
So, as you may have heard on the air, I had a chance to speak to the St. Boniface Wildlife Association on Tuesday night. They had very graciously asked me to be their “guest speaker” at a general meeting. Initially, I was humbled and thrilled to be asked and almost instantly said “Yes!” However, after giving it a little thought, I suddenly realized….what in the heck was I going to speak about? I’m used to talking to school kids or journalism students about radio…..but….would I dare to speak to a crowd about fishing, when these ladies and gentlemen were true veterans of the sport? People, who I was sure had many, many more years experience “out in the wild,” compared to me !
That fear was somewhat escalated after my partner, Tom McGouran suggested that, they probably didn’t want to hear my fishing tales. To paraphrase Tommy….why would I talk to people about fishing who probably had better stories and bigger catches than I ever had?
I also made the mistake of sharing with Tom in particular, a copy of my “well crafted” speech. Perfectly typed, double spaced…with breaks on the page left for “crowd laughter.” That had Tommy almost barelled over with laughter. He was sure I was going to bomb….
Well…..personally, (and I guess you’d really have to track down and talk to a wildlife member to confirm) I think I did pretty okay. Got some laughs and, more importantly, met some incredible people ! And yes…I did speak about fishing….not so much about techniques, but rather how I got involved in the sport/hobby and what it has done for me.
Let me just say this folks….if you, or perhaps your kids, are looking for a wonderful organization to become a part of…..check out the St. Boniface Wildlife Association. They’ve got incredible programs for the entire family…Mom’s, Dad’s and kids ! In fact, I was so moved by what I saw and read that night, that I, along with my Pops and the Dude decided to join the club and become members !
If you would like more info about the organization and how to get involved……you can contact Sharon Wiggett at 256-3068…or Tom Brereton at 801-1788.
Oh and by the way……Bob Healey, a member of the St. B club, even sent one Mr. McGouran some fine deer sausage with a bottle of mustard ! Tommy looovvveeeddd it !
