Not what I use to be?
Monday, January 31st, 2011
I am 31 years old now and it seems that time is catching up to me. It wasn’t long ago I could go out, have a few too many drinks with the boys and feel no ill effects the next day…. how things have changed. This past weekend I was in the States for our annual Beer Olympics (Triathlon). The name says it all, it’s a day of pounding brews and competing in events. The event was Saturday, it is Monday today and I’m still hurting. Stomach churning, head pounding, memory not re-calling any events from Saturday… not good!
Where has time gone? 5 years ago a Saturday like that was just par for the course, now I’m struggling to think straight. I think it may be time to hang up the Beer Olympics jersey, my body isn’t what it use to be. I’m told at 31 it’s time to slow down and start being responsible…. well until Summer is here and patio season begins!

Tom and Joe out and about today
Wednesday, January 26th, 2011
We’ve got a busy day ahead of us. Looking forward to joining All Access VIP winners at Hu’s Asian Bistro for lunch today at noon. That’s the new Hu’s in St. James. It’s a great atmosphere with tremendous food, and we always have a fun time meeting 92Citi listeners and sharing some laughs. Hope to see you for lunch one time. Just enter the VIP club on our website.
After a short nap this aft(not together by the way) we’re off to the Delta Hotel for the annual Date With a Star event for Learning Disabilities. Celebs(Joe and I??……fooled someone I guess) are matched up with groups of attendees and then we’re sent to one of the participating restaurants around the city to host the dinner with more great food and bad jokes from us!
As Joe always says “People Gotta Eat” and we’ll certainly be taking that credo to a whole new level today.
We’ll be back with you tomorrow with full bellies and all the details!
NFL PICKS for Sunday!
Friday, January 21st, 2011
The two NFL Championship Games go Sunday. Green Bay visit Chicago, and the road team is 3 and a half point favorites. Rodgers vs. Cutler should be fun to watch, as both are relatively new to the playoffs. I’m taking The Packers to win by a touchdown.
Pittsburgh is home to the New York Jets in the late game. The Jets beat The Steelers in Pittsburgh already this season. I have to root on my favorite team (31/2 point faves), so I’m taking Pittsburgh by a field goal. Could be a low scoring game because both teams usually feed off their defences. Then again, with the way the whole NFL season has gone this year, it wouldn’t surprise too many people to see both underdogs win!
Here’s a fun football fact from Barry, a 92 CITI listener…
Something that has never happened before in the NFL Conference Finals… All 4 starting quarterbacks are 1st round draft picks.
Enjoy the games!

Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter
Tuesday, January 18th, 2011
Joe, KK and I were at the Winnipeg Pet Rescue shelter all day yesterday to help raise money and supplies for the no kill facility. All the staff were fantastic and the shelter itself is wonderful! We made many new friends including Annika, Cora, Teener, Neko and Lou amongst many other cute pets. Teener was my favourite, she was found so malnourished that she had to have all her teeth pulled. Because of that, her toungue slips out of her mouth in a super cute way. Her gums have toughened up so she’s able to eat kibble now but she is still looking for a good home. Please make time to stop by the shelter to say hi to all our cuddly friends and maybe you can help one of them find a new home.

A theory on how to win a championship
Thursday, January 13th, 2011
Last week, while watching our Canadian juniors take on the Russians in the Gold medal game, the person calling the game mentioned that Steve Yzerman stopped by to lend some advice for the young hockey players. He told them that if they were able to control their emotions, they’d succeed. Then it hit me, Steve Yzerman is preaching the ways of the Jedi to the players…. could this in fact be the secret way championship teams play? I started thinking of famous championship coaches who never let their emotions show. How about NFL coach Bill Belichick, he’s won 3 Superbowls and he nevers seems to care whether they win or lose. Then there’s former Yankee skipper Joe Torre, he won numerous World Series titles with the Yanks and was the manager to pull them out of their championship funk in the 90′s all while being as interesting as wet sock.
It’s all starting to come together…. but wait… then there’s guys like infamous college basketball coach Bobby Knight. He won National Championships while acting like a 10 year old boy after drinking a pot of coffee. It would seem my theory is flawed or maybe I’m a 31 year old Star Wars geek…. most people would lean towards the latter.

BCS Championship Game
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
After 17 weeks of Monday Night Football at Boston Pizza, I found myself at home watching the U.S College Bowl game to decide the number 1 team in college football. I thought I was loaded up with snacks, until I kept seeing the logo for Tostitos, as they were the major sponsor. So of course, since the craving hit I had to leave the house to purchase some Tostitos and salsa. Who said advertising doesn’t work?! Even better, since the snacks positioned for last night are now good to go for tonights’ hockey games! Unless I have to stop and play a proline ticket on the games, then it might be open season on more fun food!
As I like to say, “People Gotta Eat.”
Have a great day!
