Barely three weeks after their inaugural BCHL season came to a close with a thrilling playoff loss to the Penticton Vees, the BCHL was back making headlines in Chilliwack on Thursday as BCHL Commissioner John Grisdale was joined by Chiefs’ President Glen Ringdal to announce that Chilliwack would host the inaugual BCHL Showcase this coming September.

The BCHL Showcase will be a three day event, taking place at Prospera Centre from September 7-9th, bringing all 16 of the BCHL teams to town, where they will play in two matchups each.

Each squad, as mentioned will play twice, with those points being applied to regular season standings. League Commissioner John Grisdale says that the event will bring all of the league’s teams under one roof, and will attract over 100 of the top college and NHL scouts from across North America. Chiefs Head Coach Harvey Smyl says “this event really puts us back on the BCHL map, and it’s really good for the Chilliwack Chiefs organization, it’s fantastic news for the community of Chilliwack, and in terms of opportunities for the kids, the college scouts will be here in a big way, they have been pushing for something like this for a number of years, and this gives them the opportunity to bring multiple members of their staffs to see the players, and if need be, twice”.

Both Alberta and Saskatchewan hold similar showcase events in their leagues as well.

Tickets for the BCHL Showcase, as well as scheduling matchups for the event will be announced before the end of April, and as always, season ticket holders will be given first opportunity to select seats.
