A Chilliwack teacher is being given an award for teaching excellence from the province.
Chilliwack superintendent Michael Audet says Hillary Devries will go on a special trip to receive her award.
“From April 24-28, she’s going to be attending the BC Teachers Institute on Parliamentary Democracy in Victoria, and she’s going to be receiving her award of excellence from the Lieutenant Governor, Stephen Point. So this is a real honour, and a tremendous recognition for Hillary Devries, and we’re very pleased for her.”
Audet says Devries has taught at Sardis Elementary and is also working at the District as a Tier 3 Support Teacher on a program called Response to Intervention, which assists struggling students in early grades.
