Looks like camping is the thing to do this year.
Campsite reservations are up about 30 percent compared to last year according to BC parks.
That means that a lot of the reserved spots have already been snapped up for for May and July long weekends.
However Nathalie Dechaine with BC Parks says that doesn’t mean you can’t get a spot.
“Even with parks ON the reservation system, there are still some first come first serve sites available, and there are some parks that aren’t even on the discover camping reservation system, so those are all first come first serve.”
Dechaine says they’re not sure why the numbers are up so much. It could be families looking for more affordable holidays, or people just wanting to reserve early to guarantee themselves a spot.
