Members of the Cologne City Council in Germany are opposing the upcoming UFC 99 event in their city, Cagewriter is reporting.

Says once council member: “MMA is not a sport because it legitimizes death and serious injury.”

As always, there is nothing I enjoy more than reading a politician’s ignorant views on a sport they know nothing about.

I am still amazed that someone who represents the people can be so silly to make such statements, seeing as the June 13 event has already sold over 7,000 seats.
