It’s officially fight week so look for a variety of reports emanating from Dublin, Ireland, as UFC 93 is less than 5 days away. Hendo anticipates a technical battle at UFC 93 vs. Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin. I had a chance to view the UFC 93 countdown show over the weekend and must say that Franklin stole the show. He had me in stitches with his reaction to Hendo’s trash talk.
Be sure to tune in to Sportsnet later this week as Canada’s leader in UFC coverage is the only broadcaster that will be airing the show. Also on the show is a breakdown of the feud between Mark Coleman and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. For many fans, this is just another fight, but for those that have been around for awhile, this feud has been on the backburner for some time. The best way I can equate it is to simply imagine having to wait three years for the Matt Serra and Matt Hughes grudge match. Now add in an in-ring brawl with both camps jumping in to help their fighter then some backstage shenanigans that nearly turned into another brawl.
Also this week on Sportsnet, the GSP-Penn II Inside UFC Primetime - Series premieres this Wednesday . This series will set the new bar for what the UFC will now have to do to promote their biggest fights. The trailers look phenomenal and I cannot wait to see the whole thing.
