Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has his day in court yesterday.
On July 15th, Jackson was the centre piece in a highly publicized police chase throughout Orange County. On August 29th, Jackson pleaded not guilty to various charges but was able to negotiate a plea agreement with the state.
Jackson pleaded guilty to a lower charges listed as driving against traffic, one felony count of evading a peace officer and a misdemeanor count of driving recklessly.
Jackson could serve up to six months in jail, but based on his plea agreement, over the next 365 day, he will be required to partake in mental health therapy, pay an undisclosed restitution, and serve 200 hours of community service. Sherdog.com is reporting that there are other terms and conditions that Jackson will be privy, which may “restrictions on alcohol use and submitting to court-ordered drug testing”.
Another fighter the UFC will have to deal with outside of the Octagon is Roger Huerta. Turns out the Minnesota native has passed on a five fight contract with the organization and his looking to pick up the pace on his acting career. He is currently weighting out more options and has stated that he will honour the last fight in his current contract, pending when the UFC tells him to fight.
In a surprise statistic, it appears UFC 92 may go down as the highest selling UFC pay per view of all time. Dana White recently stated that UFC 92 surpassed the 1.010 million buys that Lesnar and Couture did by a whopping 150,000. A truly remarkable accomplishment for the organization, considering the event was not headlined by their biggest PPV draws, in Lesnar, Couture, Liddell and St-Pierre.
