You can toss all of the Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell rumours for a UFC 99 show in Germany. Looks like Couture is now keen on a potential super fight with fellow MMA legend and pioneer, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. This is a fight NOG has wanted for quite some time, as I asked him right after he defeated Tim Sylvia to become the Interim Champion at UFC 81. Many are suggesting both fighters are past their prime but it would make for a legendary fight.
UFC Primetime St-Pierre vs. Penn Preview is going to be the next step in the UFC’s evolution of promoting fights. Penn is really picking up the pace with his trash talking and when you add the fact that this is a dream fight with both guys being in their primes, this will be one of those fights that may go down as one of the most anticipated and watched fights in the history of the sport.
Looks like UFC 95 will not be a PPV event and instead, be shown on free TV. I’ll more on this as I get info but it is a star studded card with Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson, Wilson Gouviea vs. Nate Marquardt and recent additions Josh Koscheck and Damien Maia.
On January 24th, Affliction will hold their second event entitled ‘Day of Reckoning’ with Fedor Emelianenko headlining the card against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andre “The Pitbull” Arlovski. The Pitbull, his trainer Freddie Roach as well as UFC President Dana White have been talking up a storm about Fedor, prompting the WAMMA Heavyweight Champion to clear the air.
