First and foremost, Happy New Year to you and yours. Here’s hoping your 2008 paved the way for a successful, prosperous and happy 2009.

With the Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir unification bout being rumoured to happen in the spring of 2009, here’s a great piece entitled Remaking Frank Mir: How Ken Hahn gave a BJJ black belt a striking game. Hahn is becoming quite the popular trainer these days and deservedly so. As Mir continues to train, his confidence will go up and if he can keep his stamina at optimal levels, it will be a treat to see what type of game plan Hahn puts together for the freakish power and 85 inch reach of Brock Lesnar.

We read yesterday that Dana White publiclly stated that former interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira suffered from a staph infection leading up to his co-main event bout at UFC 92. Now it appears both Mir and Nogueira were injured going into UFC 92. Fighters are rarely 100% once fight time rolls around and it is often this unknown intangible that can determine who wins a bout. Injuries are a reality and whether they happen early (i.e. Shogun vs Forrest) where a fighter cannot build the stamina for his bout or late, one bad body part is like having a flat tire as you get ready to compete in an F-1 race.

Keeping up with all of “The Iceman“ rumours, here is a video where Liddell halts the Silva and Couture Rumours and wants to fight in Mar/Apr.
