- « Couture To Get In Lesnar’s Head / UFC Fighters In Trouble
- Lesnar’s Hands Will Be Full / Kang at UFC 93 »
Much is being made about Brock Lesnar’s tendency to go from a calm demeanour to an erratic episode; let’s face it, it doesn’t take much for him to flip out over the smallest of issues. Of course, he will disagree with you and according to his beliefs, Brock Lesnar is at peace as UFC 91 heavyweight title fight draws near.Lesnar believes he is ready for the biggest fight in his MMA career. His training camp has gone well, he feels great, all is well with the family but contrary to what he may think is ” being ready “, it’s a whole different ball game when the crafty, legendary octagon veteran known as Randy Couture has you pinned up against the cage and dirty boxing you at will. Will Brock Lesnar’s Background Help him When his Back is Against the Cage? Or will his mental psyche hold up as Couture works to suck the will to fight right out of him? We’ll find out in less than a week.
Today we get Paulo Filho’s Side of the Story, after a variety of disturbing events. First he weighs in over seven pounds in the long awaited WEC middleweight championship rematch with Chael Sonnen. Then his lacklustre, unmotivated, simply weird performance in the bout was quite frankly, sad to see. Paulo Filho agrees to relinquish the WEC middleweight title, but I’m not sure I agree.
Call me cynical but it was not a title fight after he didn’t weigh in so the bout became a non-title affair; Sonnen should not be awarded the belt. If Filho is to relinquish the title, then Sonnen should fight the next contender to determine who becomes the champ. Irregardless, Filho will be moving to 205 pounds, but where will he fight? Will the UFC dare to give him another chance, especially is such a stacked division?
Tito Ortiz Is Close to Signing A Contract…Again. He states it will be either with the UFC ( difficult to believe ) or Affliction. The latter may be better suited for Ortiz, but in reality, more for Affliction. Since an Affliction exec’s radio outburst could cost company relationship with Couture and a chance to sign Carano, there options at filling their roster with some big name free agent talent is not looking as promising as just a few weeks ago, when Elite XC folded. Todd Beard, the Affliction exec who went on a radio rampage calling out Randy Couture and wishing Lesnar destroys him, has burnt one of the strongest bridges in the industry. In doing so, he may experience a domino effect of agents and fighters turning their backs on Affliction, and behind the scenes, do not be surprised if exec’s from Zuffa aid in helping out Couture in making life difficult for Beard and company.
