This Saturday night, the UFC heads down to Minny, for UFC 87: Boiling Point, featuring two of the top welterweights in the world, itching to get into the Octagon to settle their differences.Canadian Georges St.Pierre will defend his newly acquired welterweight title for the first time as he takes on #1 contender Jon Fitch.

St.Pierre - the heavy favourite this Saturday- will try to avoid the same fate the last time he tried to defend the UFC belt, when Matt Serra pulled off the huge upset at UFC 69.

While many fans and pundits are already writing off Jon Fitch but I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t expect this fight to be a cakewalk for GSP. Fitch is on a major roll himself, reeling off 15 straight wins, including a perfect 8-8 in the UFC. That’s right: he’s never lost in the Octagon.

Fitch, a decorated collegiate wrestler and a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, has better credentials on paper than GSP. He has five wins by knockout so his stand up skills are no joke either. Fitch has the potential to be GSP’s toughest fight to date.

BUT we’ve seen what GSP has done with other wrestlers and fighters with better ground games. He has dismantled them by imposing his aggressive rhthym, his takedown defence and pin point striking assault.

My prediction? I look for GSP to win this fight in a war similar to his fight with BJ Penn back in March of 2006; it won’t be easy but expect ST.Pierre to retain his welterweight title by unanimous decision.
