- « UFC 86: Rampage or Griffin? Something’s Gotta Give…
- Controversy At UFC 86, Plus Cote Wins, But…. »
UFC 86 is finally here, so let’s take a look at some of the big bouts on this card.
First off, the light-heavyweight championship is up for grabs as Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson defends the belt against the original Ultimate Fighter, Forest Griffin.
While Griffin brings exceptional cardio and a ‘never say die’ attitude to the fight, he lacks the one tangible that Rampage has: knockout power. Its Jackson’s punching prowess that will be the difference in this fight and I predict the champ will dispose of the challenger by TKO in Rd 2.
The next bout pits Canadian, Patrick ‘The Predator’ Cote against ‘The Big Dog’ Ricardo Almeida. Unlike Jason MacDonald’s prediction on Sportsnet.ca, I’m going with Cote by TKO in Round Three just as long as he avoids any sort of ground game vs Almeida.
Coming off a tough loss to BJ Penn, its the return of Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson has he takes on American Top Team’s Gleason Tibau. With Tibau’s last fight a loss to Tyson Griffin, expect him to come out swinging for the fences as he hopes to KO Stevenson early in the first. Joe Daddy should be able to weather the storn and eke out a split decision vs the Brazilian phenom.
And finally, Chris ‘Lights Out’ Lytle takes on Josh Koscheck in a welterweight battle of styles. Koscheck has the superior wrestling while Lytle has the better striking. These two will go back and forth with Koscheck winning a split decision but not before eating a buffet of leather sandwiches.
