Matt Good Preaches to the Choir

Matthew Good did an interview with The Canadian Press recently, talking about his new album “Vancouver” and also expressed thoughts about the Junos and why he’s never gone to the awards show despite the face he’s won a bunch of times…saying:

“When it’s actually a television broadcast that celebrates actual Canadian music, rather than who’s doing well internationally and has been in car commercials and iPod commercials … I’ll go,”

Now to a music outsider this may seem like Matt is bashing Canadian Music, etc…but as someone that has attended the Junos many times..I must say..he’s right. The Junos are based on album sales.  If you sell a ton of records you will will a Juno.  The idea that a high selling record shouldn’t win a record may come to you as a shock, but in my opinion just because an album sells 1 million copies doesn’t necessarily mean it’s any good.  Example: Paris Hilton’s debut album sold 1.6 Million copies world wide.  That’s right 1.6 Million people actually bought that wretched disc…does that mean it’s any good??  I’ll let you assume the answer.

The Junos, in my opinion, should be a vehicle not for labels, but for quality.  I would much rather listen to the greatest album no one has ever heard of than the biggest seller with the most amount of trophies.

Lawyer for rapper Chris Brown want the charges against him dropped for that one time when he beat the crap out of his girl friend Rihanna.  Saying: “He will argueit was a misunderstanding between two young people passionately in love.”

I never knew what true love actually was.  Thanks Chris Brown!  The next time my girl friend and I are having a “misunderstanding”…I’ll make sure she gives me a black eye…to prove she really loves me.

Michael Phelps is a Pot Head?

    Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Duuuuude, pass me the cheetos…the guy who can swim faster than a Tuna Fish also likes to toke!  Mr. Phelps was caught on camera smoking a bong.  First off, if I was a world-wide icon, I would make sure there are no cameras around when I did something that was against the law…and if you’re with friends…what kind of “Friend” would take a picture of you doing that??  Anyways that’s beside the point…  This is actually not the first time he’s gotten into some trouble with the law.  When he was 19 he was pulled over for a DUI..and he pretty much pulled the same “apology” then as he did this time.

When he got pulled over for drunk-driving he was like “Well, I’m 19..and I’m really sorry..”

This time he said “Well, I’m 23 and I’m really sorry..”

Apparently, all you have to do to get away with ANYTHING is just state your age first.

Didn’t pay your taxes?  Murder a guy? “Well, I’m -INSERT AGE HERE- and I’m really sorry..” should do the trick..

    10 Books (not) to read.

    Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

The AOL Shopping website has put together a list of “10 Books to Read Before You Die,” based on a Harris Poll that asked 2,413 U.S. adults to name their favorite books.

Here’s the list…and reasons NOT to read them.

    1. The Holy Bible — Never heard of it.
    2. Gone With the Wind — The title of his book should be “Lethbridge”
    3. The Lord of the Rings — The author of this book has too many initials.  3 really J.R.R.?  Pick 2 and stick with it, we’re at war.
    4. Harry Potter series — How old are you 6?
    5. The Stand – When this came out on VHS it was 4 tapes long.  Something tells me it will take you 100 years to finish.
    6. The Da Vinci Code — Tom Hanks isn’t mentioned in the book once!
    7. To Kill a Mockingbird — 3 Words…Don’t Feed It.
    8. Angels and Demons — See #1
    9. Atlas Shrugged – Just get a Globe!
    10. The Catcher in the Rye — This book is the reason John Lennon was shot.  Do you want to be a psychopathic killer?  If yes, read this book.

We were pretty close to having Sarah Palin as a U.S. Vice President. I mean I know Obama won a landslide, but anything could have happened. Watch the video below…ironically Mrs. Palin didn’t know Africa was a continent. Thank God America thought about who they were voting for this time..

To say that the election last night was historic would be an understatment. Thoughts?
