Captain Volunteer!
Monday, April 20th, 2009
I was asked to dress up as the Soon-To-Be-Famous Super Hero Character Captain Volunteer this past weekend to kick off National Volunteer Week! Of course I jumped at the chance to get out in the community and spread the good word about Volunteering. It’s all part of my Quest For a Key To The City Of Lethbridge.
Here I am with Lethbridge City Mayor Bob Tarleck…who apparently doesn’t like that I’m taller than he is..
Looking forward a the summer time and getting back into the community and making a real difference. Hope you can join me!

Quest #3 - Paint It…White
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008
I took part in another Project Paintbrush event this past weekend as part of my Quest For The Key to the City of Lethbridge. Had a great time like before! Met some really cool people this time around including a guy named Kyle who is on the Board of Directors for Volunteer Lethbridge and his friend Dan. Who I called Random-Dan, due to the amount of funny random things he would spew out during the painting project…haha! Good Times had by all!
Stay tuned for my next event and I hope to see you there!
Quest #2 - blood, sweat and more blood
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008
Hey Team…So I gave Blood over the weekend for the very first time EVER! And to be honest it wasn’t as scary as I’ve heard. In all honesty I felt like I was in a spa…I was being bought drinks (juice), there were girls all around me (nurses), and I helped save up to 3 lives (very cool)!
I was worried too cause I wasn’t sure if they kept the blood on ice for a few months or in a warehouse somewhere but they told me that my blood would be processed immediately and could be used to help someone the next day! And the bonus (as if you needed more) there was a Root Beer Float waiting for me at the end..mmm-rootbeery-floaty-goodness
So this is where you come in..it’s your turn to bleed!! Stop by the Canadian Blood Services Blood Donor Clinic in LETHBRIDGE CENTER MALL. It’s upstairs and is usually open till 7:30pm
Or click here for an updated list of times:

I helped saved up to 3 people. Together we can save 6.
Quest #1 - Project Paintbrush
Monday, July 28th, 2008
This weekend I took part in a Project Paintbrush event. PP is a group that will renovate a needy family’s home exterior. There was a big group about 18 people or so working on a back yard fence and it was a ton of fun. I got a little covered in paint but it was totally worth it. We even got free pizza at the end!
Coming up on August 10th there’s another PP event that I’ll be attending and I hope to see you there. Contact Lauren is you wanna come help at: Projectpaintbrush@volunteerlethbridge.com

Quest For The Key
Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Ok, so yesterday I spoke to the mayor and it turns out you can’t just ask for a Key to The City of Lethbridge, and despite my many attempts at convincing him that my weather reading skills are pretty hard to beat…there was still no go. To get a Key to the city Mayor Bob says you have to be a Community Builder. So I gave it some thought and you know what…for once, I’m going to play by the rules. If it takes a community builder to get a coveted Key To The City…than a Community Builder I shall be.
So from now on, I’m on a Quest. A Quest for a Key to The City. I will be out and about in Southern Alberta working for this community. If there is a Charity event going on and I can attend – I’m there. And I’ll document the entire Quest on my Blog here and on our Facebook group page. I can’t do this alone, I need your help and by joining The Quest for the Key Team together we can do great things. All it takes to be a member of Team Quest is your spare time. If you have spare time there are so many organizations that need our help.
Having a Key To the City would be amazing…but it would be even better if I got to share it with you.
So I Spoke to the Mayor..

..and it turns out you can’t just ask for a Key To The City. There’s a little more that’s involved with it. But don’t fret…I have a plan - And I will unveil it tomorrow on the show and the best part..it involves you!
Thanks for the support. This isn’t over, if anything it’s just starting and will be something great not just for me but all of Southern Alberta! Keep in the loop by checking back to this blog and the facebook group!
If you missed it, here’s my conversation with Mayor Bob:
Press Release

Scott McGregor - Afternoon Host on Rock 106 in Lethbridge Alberta is campaigning for a Key To The City Of Lethbridge.
Scott hosts the afternoon show on Rock 106 in Lethbridge Alberta. Despite what you’ve heard it’s not just an afternoon show, it’s a movement and a mission towards Hope, Happiness and more Hope within the Lethbridge City Limits. Scott works tirelessly for 4 hours a day with the belief that as long as we have Rock Music and Hope, we have a thousand paths and infinity of dreams.
A Facebook group has been started and will be used as a petition to convince Mayor Bob Tarleck that despite the fact that the Keys To The City have already been given out this year we (he) think(s) he should also get a Key! Not only does the Key hold special powers - like access to a secret tunnel to the West-side of town but it’s a symbol for the service he has provided to the people of Lethbridge over the years as an announcer at Rock 106. Whether he helped you lose 40 pounds, read the weather forecast that got you our of the way of a vicious tornado or just intro-ed a song really really good - Scott McGregor encompasses what it means to be a community leader. Join the most aggressive grass-roots movement to get Scott a Key To the City: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=34666398752
E-Mail Mayor Bob Tarleck with your story on how Scott has changed your life for the better! mayor@lethbridge.ca
Call Mayor Bob Tarleck with your tail of struggle and how Scott McGregor saved you from a life of drugs, gangs, and dirty dirty hookers @ 403-320-3823
On Wednesday July 23rd Scott will be taking to Mayor Bob about his Key to The City. Listen Online @ http://www.rock106.ca
If only Stephen Page listened to Scott McGregor’s afternoon show on Rock 106 things might have turned out differently…
