Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
Another huge night for the Winnipeg Goldeyes last night. First, the Fish won another suspended game last night, the suspended game from June 24 in Kansas City, as the Goldeyes beat the T-Bones 6-5 Juan Diaz hit his 17th homer of the season. Then, in the regularly scheduled game, Ace Walker pitched his fourth complete game of the season and got his league-leading eighth win as the Goldeyes won 2-1. The 41-23 Fish have won eight straight, lead second-place Gary by four games and will complete this series with Kansas City today at 11 a.m. and then head for Schaumburg, Ill.
The Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 yesterday as Ken Griffey Jr. drove home the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Roy Halladay. By the way, Halladay is still a member of the Blue jays Yesterday, the No.1 suitor for Halladay, the Philadelphia Phillies, made what will robably be the biggest move at deadline time. The Phils acquired Tribe 2008 Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee from the Cleveland Indians for four prospects. If you don’t have a subscription to Baseball America, you won’t have any idea who the prospects are.
Arland Bruce III was traded from Toronto to Hamilton for a prospect and two draft picks yesterday then the Winnipeg Blue Bombers released QB Richie Williams and DT Tyrone Williams in bit of a moving day in the CFL. Week 5 in the league begins tonight with Montreal at Edmonton, 8 p.m. on TSN. Tomorrow night, B.C. plays at Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. on TSN’s Friday Night Football and on Saturday Winnipeg, with Michael Bishop starting at quarterback, plays at Toronto at Noon while Saskatchewan plays at Calgary at 8.
In the NHL, the league approved the purchase of the Phoenix Coyotes by Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf for $148 million. That’s $60 million less than the rejected offer from Canadian Jim Balsillie. The lawsuits in Phoenix will continue.
And finally, it’s going to be a big, big night at Red River Co-Op Speedway tonight. There will be so much action, you won’t even have time to get a burger. There will be a Street Stock Special, with Modifieds, Superstocks, Super Trucks, Lightning Sprints AND a make-up for the Modified and Superstock features that were cancelled last week. Tonight at 7:30 at Red River Co-Op Speedway.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
Arland Bruce III became the second wide receiver to be run off by his team this season. Unfortunately, for the Toronto Argos, Bruce landed in Hamilton where he will make the already improved Tiger-Cats even better.
The Blue Bombers were lucky when they released Derick Armstrong. Nobody picked him up. there is very little doubt that trading Bruce to Hamilton will eventually come back to haunt Toronto.
8:15 NASCAR REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM NASCAR REPORT. Brought to you by 3M Automotive and Rondex. At 177 Isabel, Rondex is celebrating 37 years of auto body supply service.
Back on June 7, Tony Stewart won his first Sprint Cup points race of the year at Long Pond with a victory in the Pocono 500.
On Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup boys are back at Long Pond for the Pennsylvania 500 and once again, Stewart, along with last year’s champion, Carl Edwards, are the favourites. But you know what? I like Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin this week. This is going to be a great race.
4:50 PM BLUE BOMBERS REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS REPORT. Brought to you by Western Paint and Wallcovering. 521 Hargrave Street and 1510 St. Mary’s Road.
This week, Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly was fined $1,000 for verbally abusing the officials in last week’s 19-5 loss to Toronto.
The Bombers were so dreadfully awful last week that I didn’t really notice the officials much, but I will say this: CFL officials are so bad, so rotten, that somebody has to verbally abuse them. Just to keep them awake.
4:00 PM RED RIVER CO-OP SPEEDWAY REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM RED RIVER CO-OP SPEEDWAY REPORT. Brought to you by Red River Co-Op Speedway. The fastest sport on the Prairies!
It’s going to be a big, big night at Red River Co-Op Speedway tonight. There will be so much action, you won’t even have time to get a burger.
Let’s review: There will be a Street Stock Special, with Modifieds, Superstocks, Super Trucks, Lightning Sprints AND a make-up for the Modified and Superstock features that were cancelled last week. Wow! Talk about action. Tonight at 7:30.

Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
The Winnipeg Goldeyes opened a six game road trip by completing the game from June 23 that was suspended by lightning. The Goldeyes scored a run in the 10th to win it 5-4. In the game scheduled for last night, Juan Diaz, Brent Metheny and Dee Brown all homered as the Goldeyes beat Kansas City 4-3. The 39-23 Fish have now officially won seven straight games and are 3 ½ games up on second-place Gary. Meanwhile, yesterday, the Goldeyes added reliever Jon Huizinga to the roster.
The eattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 in Seattle last night. Meanwhle, Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi is still trying to trade his ace righthander Roy Halladay before Friday’s waiver-wire trade deadline and yesterday, he got an offer from the Boston Red Sox that included pitcher Clay Bucholz.
Arland Bruce III’s days as a member of the Toronto Argonauts are numbered. Head coach Bart Andrus has told Bruce that he’s no longer wanted around the team and will not be welcomed back. It looks like he’ll wind up in Hamilton, but don’t count out Winnipeg or Saskatchewan. The Argos would prefer to make a trade, but it’s very likely they’ll end up releasing Bruce, just as the Bombers released Derick Armstrong.
Week 5 in the CFL begins tomorrow night with Montreal at Edmonton, 8 p.m. on TSN. On Friday, B.C. plays at Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. on TSN’s Friday Night Football and on Saturday Winnipeg plays at Toronto at Noon while Saskatchewan plays at Calgary at 8.
Finally, in NFL news, Brett Favre said he would remain retired and would not be at Minnesota Vikings’ training camp, which opens this Friday, in Mankato, Minnesota. Now it ppears as if Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels or John David Booty will be the quarterback in Minnesota.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
Anthony Calvillo was named this week’s CFL offensive player of the week and I doubt anyone is surprised.
Calvillo completed 30-of 39 passes for 404 yards and two touchdown passes on 30 of 39 attempts while throwing two touchdown passes and one interception in a 21-8 win over Hamilton on Thursday. Tonight, Calvillo can join Damon Allen as the only two quarterbacks to pass for 60,000 yards in a career.
There are only six races left before the Chase for the Sprint Cup and this weekend the Cup Boys are at Pocono Raceway for the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.
Pocono is a 2 1/2-mile three-turn tri-oval that is built for speed. Carl Edwards is the defending champion, but look out for the red-hot Jimmie Johnson. He has the fastest car in the circuit right now.
Anyone who thought for five minutes that maybe Michael Bishop wouldn’t be the starting quarterback in Toronto this weekend can think again. Yesterday, Bishop was essentially the only quarterback at Bomber practice.
He also took snaps out of the shotgun which suggests that Mike Kelly is changing his offence dramatically. But that’s just a contention. What’s fact is that Michael Bishop will be the starting quarterback at noon on Saturday in Toronto.
Tomorrow night, it’s a double feature at Red River Co-Op Speedway as the Street Stocks and the Lightning Sprints are featured at the best little dirt track in the Upper Midwest.
But first, let’s give a shout out to last week’s winners, Jesse Pederson in the street stocks and Dave Buffie in the Super Trucks. Don’t forget, Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Let’s go racing.
The Reports for Tuesday, July 28, 2009: Bishop Practices With Blue Bombers
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
Brand new quarterback Michael Bishop practised with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers yesterday and he could start this Saturday when the Bombers face Toronto at Rogers Centre at 12 noon on TSN. Week 5 in the CFL opens Thursday, with 4-0 Montreal at 2-2 Edmonton.
The National Football League has reinstated Michael Vick. Yesterday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told the former Atlanta Falcons all-pro quarterback, who has just completed a jail term for funding a dog-fighting ring, that he could immediately participate in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games — if he can find a team that will sign him. Goodell will allow Vick to return to regular season action in Week 6.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes had yesterday off, Tonight the first-place Fish start a six-game road trip in Kansas City.
Marco Scutaro had four hits while Rod Barajas had three hits including a home run as the Toronto Blue Jays pounded out 15 hits and whipped Seattle 11-4. Meanwhile, Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi is still trying to trade his ace righthander Roy Halladay before Friday’s waiver-wire trade deadline.
In other major league news, Major League Baseball commissioner Bug Selig is reportedly considering reinstating the sport’s all-time hits leader, Pete Rose, from his lifetime ban from the sport. According to the New York Daily News, Hall of Famer Hank Aaron told several reporters he would like to see Rose as a member of the Hall. The comments apparently held some weight with Selig.
Finally, 33-year-old Australian Nathan Green captured his first PGA Tour victory by beating Retief Goosen in a playoff to win the 2009 Canadian Open golf championship at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
You have to love the CFL’s hype machine. They’ve already started talking about a perfect season for the Montreal Alouettes. Nice try, but people with brains bigger than walnuts don’t even consider the thought of a perfect 18-0 season until a team hits 15 straight wins.
And even then, that perfect season is only one major injury away from ever happening.
Juan Pablo Montoya’s mistake was Jimmie Johnson’s big break at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.
A pit-road speeding penalty to the overly aggressive Montoya left Johnson in the lead and he hung on to win his second consecutive Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and his third in the past four years. He’s now back in second place in the point standings.
Naturally, the local mainstream media and, as a result, Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans were taken aback this week when head coach Mike Kelly criticized fans for mercilessly booing young quarterback Stefan Lefors. Some folks were not happy with Kelly trying to tell them their business.
But it was a terrific ploy. In an effort to take the heat off Lefors, Kelly put the focus on himself. The coach has broad shoulders. He can handle the criticism because he pays no attention to it. Lefors on the other hand, might not have survived his treatment so Kelly did what all good coaches do. He took the heat.

Monday, July 27, 2009
Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly appears to have swallowed his pride and has gone out to get a new quarterback. Michael Bishop, who was so-so at Toronto and Regina is expected at practice today. The Bombers fell to 1-3 after losing to Toronto 19-5 in a snoozer at Canad Inns Stadium on Friday night.
Week 5 in the CFL opens Thursday, with 4-0 Montreal at 2-2 Edmonton. 1-3 B.C. is at 2-2 Hamilton on Friday night and then on Saturday. 1-3 Winnipeg is at 2-2 Toronto – noon on TSN — followed by 2-2 Saskatchewan at 2-2 Calgary.
Juan Diaz hit a grand slam home run in the third inning and a two-run shot in the seventh and that’s all the Winnipeg Goldeyes needed as they whipped the Gary SouthShore Railcats 7-4 to sweep Gary out of Canwest Park this weekend. With the win, the Fish won their sixth straight game, improved to 37-23 and moved three games ahead of second-place Gary in the race for first in the Northern League. The Fish start a six-game road trip tomorrow night in Kansas City.
The Toronto Blue Jays got a tremendous pitching performance from Brett Cecil while Scott Rolen hit a three-run homer as the Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 yesterday. Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi is still trying to trade his ace righthander Roy Halladay but yesterday, he turned down an offer from the Philadelphia Phillies. Something should happen before Friday’s waiver-wire trade deadline.
In auto racing, Jimmie Johnson won the NASCAR Sprint Cup’s Brickyard 400 at Indy yesterday, his third win of the year.
And at the Canadian Open golf championship at Oakville, Ont. Jason Dufner, at 14-under, leads the rain-delayed PGA Tour event by one shot over Jerry Kelly and Anthony Kim. The final round is on this morning.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
Well, a fan can always hope. Even thjough he wasn’t much in Saskatchewan, Michael Bishop did show some signs in Toronto I 2007 that he might be a decent quarterback.
Of course, he can’t possible be any worse than the Three Musketeers – Stefan Lefors, Bryan Randall and Ritchie Williams – so Bomber fans can expect an improvement next Saturday in Toronto.
Suspended Sprint Cup owner/driver Jeremy Mayfield has sold his hauler and inventory of cars and parts to owner John Carter. Carter said the deal included six cars, including the one Terry Labonte used in Sunday’s race at Indy.
Mayfield was suspended on May 9 after testing positive for methamphetamines. Mayfield plans to use all of the money he received from Carter to fund his legal suit against NASCAR. Mayfield has maintained he never used methamphetamines, and that he was the victim of a false positive. I, for one, believe him.
Michael Bishop showed up Blue Bomber practice today and his appearance alone probably ended the Stefan Lefors experiment.
In fairness to Bomber head coach Mike Kelly, he gave Lefors a chance and the kid gagged. The fun has stopped, however. Now it’s time to try and win. I’m not sure Michael Bishop is the answer but he’s an improvement.
The Reports for Friday, July 24, 2009: Goldeyes Win Third Straight Over T-Bones
Friday, July 24th, 2009
Friday, July 24, 2009
Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
Shortstop Adam Frost hit a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Winnipeg Goldeyes a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones last night in a sensational pitcher’s duel between Goldeyes starter Andrew Cruse and T-Bones starter Dustin Bolton. With the victory, the Fish swept the T-Bones right out of Canwest Park and improved to 34-23. The Fish are tied with Gary for first in the Northern League and tonight, they’ll open a three-game series with the RailCats, 7 p.m. at Canwest Park.
The Cleveland Indians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 yesterday afternoon, but the big story in the Majors was Mark Buerhle’s perfect game – 27 up, 27 out — as he led the Chicago White Sox to a 5-0 win over Tampa. It was the second perfect game in White Sox history, the first since 1922. And the 18th perfect game in big league history.
Tonight Roy Halladay could make his final home start for the Toronto Blue Jays as the Jays take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:07 on Rogers SportsNet. Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi could trade Halladay before next Friday’s waiver-wire trade deadline.
Week 4 in the CFL opened last night as Anthony Calvillo completed 30-of-39 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns as the Montreal improved to 4-0 with a 21-8 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Bombers are 3 ½ point favourites. Game time is 6:30, It’s on TSN HD. The second game of the doubleheader tonight as Calgary at B.C. at 9:30.
In NHL news, former Detroit Red Wings star Sergei Fedorov says a man entrusted to manage his money during the past 11 years swindled him out of $43 million. In a lawsuit filed yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit, Fedorov claimed Joseph Zada of Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich., also broke a promise to repay him $60 million by April 20. $43 million? $60 million? Sergei, pay attention.
And the official numbers are in on Travis Zajac’s contract: four years, $15.5 million.
Kevin Na fired a 28 on the back nine yesterday and completed a rain-delayed first-round, nine-under 63 and the first-round lead at the Canadian Open golf championship at Oakville, Ont,’s Glen Abbey Golf Club. Mike Weir was 71.
Finally, 51-year-old Garth Collings won the Manitoba Amateur Golf Championship yesterday with a four-round total of 290, beating Scott Borsa by one shot and Scott Loewen by two. Collings is the oldest winner in Manitoba Amateur history.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
We’re just four weeks into the CFL season and already, Anthony Calvillo is the league’s most outstanding player.
Last Thursday night, Calvillo was sensational — again. He completed 30-of-39 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns as the Montreal Alouettes improved to 4-0 with a 21-8 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. So far in ’09, there is nobody better than Anthony Calvillo.

Kevin Harvick wants out of his contract. He wants to drive for somebody else. But his owner, Richard Childress says not yet, buddy.
Well, this we know. Harvick and his No. 29 Shell/Pennzoil Chevrolet will be racing with Childress for as long as he has a contract, and for one big reason. He has a sponsor. And with Childress , who will soon lose millions in GM money is going to make sure Harvick goes nowhere.
The Reports for Thursday, July 23, 2009: Goldeyes Win Second Straight Over T-Bones
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009
Thursday, July 23, 2009
Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
The Winnipeg Goldeyes got a three-run homer from Cody Ehlers, a two-run bomb from Kevin West — his fourth in two games — and a great start from Mark Michael en route to beating the visiting Kansas City T-Bones 5-4 at Canwest Park last night. The 33-23 Goldeyes have won two-straight but are now a ½-game back of the Gary SouthShore RailCats in the race for first in the Northern League. Game 3 of this three-game series with K.C. goes tonight at 6 p.m. at the downtown ballpark. It’s also on Shaw Channel 9.
The Toronto Blue Jays used the long ball on the way to a 10-6 win over the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre. The Jays hit five home runs and Marco Scutaro had the first multi-home-run game of his career. The final game of this three-game set goes today at 11:37 a.m. Winnipeg time.
In NHL news, Winnipeg’s Travis Zajac avoided arbitration and signed a three-year deal with the New Jersey Devils yesterday. In Year 1 of the contract, Zajac will make $984,000.
It’s been pretty quiet here in Winnipeg this week. Seems the circus has moved to Toronto. Yesterday, Argos head coach Bart Andrus apparently told his No. 1 receiver Arland Bruce III to stay home this week when the Argos head to Winnipeg for tomorrow night’s game. Andrus said it was because Bruce was not acting like a professional. The guy who played dead in the end zone earlier this year as a tribute to Michael Jackson has been fined by the Argos four times.
Tomorrow night’s game at Canad Inns Stadium begins at 6:30 for Friday Night Football. The Bombers are 3 ½ point favourites
Week 4 in the CFL opens tonight with surprising 2-1 Hamilton at the only home of the only undefeated team in the CFL, the Montreal Alouettes. 6:30 on TSN.

Tonight at Canad Inns Stadium, Stefan Lefors gets another chance to prove he’s a big-time professional quarterback when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers meet the Toronto Argonauts.
Lefors has not played one game this season in which he’s completed 50 per cent of his passes, but head coach Mike Kelly will not give up on his chosen quarterback. Game time tonight is 6:30 for TSN’s Friday Night Football. Let’s hope Lefors shows up on time.

This week the NASCAR Sprint Cup boys are back in action at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a classic, the Brickyard 400.
But remember last year’s debacle. It was a horrible race, mainly because Goodyear’s Racing Tires disintegrated on the Indy track. Have they learned their lesson? Tune in Sunday at Noon on TSN.
The Reports for Wednesday, July 22, 2009: Goldeyes Come Back to Win on Donnie Smith Night
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Wednesday, July 22, 2009
Scott Taylor’s CITI Sports Reports
What a ball game, on Donnie Smith Night, at Canwest Park last night! The Winnipeg Goldeyes bullpen blew a 7-0 lead after seven innings. Winnipeg trailed the Kansas City T-Bones 8-7 heading to the bottom of the ninth and that’s when Kevin West hit his third solo homer of the game to tie the score at 8 and then Cody Ehlers hit a two-run shot with two out to win it as the Fish beat K.C. 10-8 to improve to 32-23 on the season and remain in a tie for first in the Northern League. Game 2 in this three-game series with Kansas City goes tonight at 7 at the downtown ballpark.
The Toronto Blue Jays couldn’t solve the riddle of Indians starter Cliff Lee as Cleveland beat Toronto 2-1 at Rogers Centre. Victor Martinez drove in both Cleveland runs with a double in the ninth. Earlier in the day, Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said that it was unlikely he would be able to arrange a trade for his ace righthander, Roy Halladay. Ricciardi said next Tuesday, the 28th was the deadline for any Halladay deal.
Meanwhile, the New York Yankees have moved past Boston and into first place in the American League East. The Yankees won their fifth straight last night, a 6-4 win over Baltimore while the Red Sox lost their fourth straight, 4-2 to Texas so the Yanks have taken a one-game lead.
Week 4 in the CFL will open tomorrow night with surprising 2-1 Hamilton at the outstanding 3-0 Montreal Alouettes. The 1-2 Bombers, with Stefan LeFors starting at quarterback, play again this Friday night, at home, against 1-2 Toronto. The Bomnbers are 3 ½ point favourites on Friday. 7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
Tomorrow night at Canad Inns Stadium, the 1-2 Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the 1-2 Toronto Argonauts in a battle of the early-season doormats of the CFL’s Eastern Conference.
Toronto was impressive in its opener in Hamilton while Winnipeg played well in its home opener against Calgary. Other than that, these two teams have shown a penchant for shaky offences and weak special teams. This week, at home, the Bombers are 3 ½-point favourites. Sounds about right.

Half of the 2009 Sprint Cup season is over and on top of the drivers standings is an unlikely conquerer – long-time driving sensation and rookie owner Tony Stewart.
Stewart, who has two wins and 11 Top 5 finishes leads No. 2 Jeff Gordon by 175 points and No. 3 – three time defending champion – Jimmie Johnson by 212 points. There are only seven races left until the Chase begins, including this Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indy.

The second-place Winnipeg Goldeyes return to action tonight when they open a three-game series with the Kansas City T-Bones at Canwest Park. Tonight it’s a tribute to former Goldeyes reliever and Winnipeg’s-own Donnie Smith. Game time is 7 o’clock. It’s also on Shaw Channel 9
The 46-47 Toronto Blue Jays have won two straight games and will open a three-game series with Cleveland at Rogers Centre tonight, 6:07 on TSN.
In the NHL, Winnipeg’s Nigel Dawes has signed a two-year deal with the Calgary Flames worth $850,000 per season.
In NBA news, two-time MVP and Canada’s own Steve Nash has told the Phoenix Suns that he will accept their offer of a two-year extension worth $22 million.
In boxing, the fight is one and it’s and a pretty big fight for many Winnipeggers. A deal has been completed on a showdown between two of the world’s most popular fighters, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao and Cotto, will meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Nov. 14.
In NFL news, the electronic monitor has been removed so Michael Vick has done his time, paid his debt to society and will now meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in an effort to put an end to his indefinite suspension from football. And late yesterday, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was named in a lawsuit filed by a woman in Nevada claiming that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her. Roethlisberger’s lawyer has denied the charge and no criminal complaint has been filed.
Finally, Week 4 in the CFL will open Thursday night with surprising 2-1 Hamilton at 3-0 Montreal, the most dominant team in the CFL. The 1-2 Bombers, with Stefan LeFors starting at quarterback, play again this Friday night, at home, against 1-2 Toronto. It’s a 6:30 start time at Canad Inns Stadium.
7:15 CFL REPORT
Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
Here’s the problem facing Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly heading into Week 4 of the 2009 Canadian Football League season. Stefan Lefors has yet to complete 50 per cent of his passes in any game this season.
Now I don’t believe we’re heading into a new era of Jeff Reinebold football in Winnipeg, but I am worried that Stefan Lefors is the next T.J. Rubley.

Tom Watson? Remember the name Hershel McGriff. It will make for a great trivia answer one day. Who was the oldest driver in history in a NASCAR sanctioned event? That’s right, 81-year-old Hershel McGriff.
On Saturday, McGriff, who has four Cup series wins in a career that has spanned six decades, finished 13th in the Camping World West Series race at Portland Raceway. Amazingly, McGriff was the defending champion. He won the race in 1986, the last time that series was in Portland.

Hi everybody, it’s the Coach Scott Taylor and it’s time now for the 92-CITI-FM Canadian Football League Report. Brought to you by MAACO Collision and Auto Painting at 983 Wall Street.
The loudest message sent in the CFL during the weekend was sent by B.C. Lions quarterback Jarious Jackson. After an injury to Buck Pierce, Jackson took over the offence of the 0-2 Lions and essentially told head coach Wally Buono he, not Pierce, was the No. 1 QB in B.C.
Jackson went 19-for-28 for 362 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-22 shellacking of the Eskimos in Edmonton. Might be time for a change on the West Coast.

The biggest disappointments of the first half? No question about it, the consistently poor showing of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the failure of Carl Edwards, David Ragan and the Haas Racing team. The most pleasant surprises? Again, no doubt. Tony Stewart, winning and leading the point standings as an owner-driver and Mark Martin winning four times as a 50-year-old
