Canadian actor Leslie Nielsen passed away yesterday in Florida at the tender age of 84.
Though we know him as a great comedian, he actually started out in drama. He got his big break, and he says the role that changed his life, playing a hapless doctor in “Airplane!”. He then went on and played the accident-prone detective Frank Drebin in the “The Naked Gun” comedies.
His agent John S. Kelly said Nielsen died at a hospital near his home in Ft. Lauderdale where he was being treated for pneumonia.
Nielsen’s nephew, Doug Nielsen, who lives in Richmond, B.C., says his uncle had been hospitalized for the past 12 days and died in his sleep.
Friends and wife, Barbaree, were by the actor’s side.

Three teenaged boys are finally on dry land after drifting in a small boat in the South Pacific for 50 days. How long could you survive? Obviously you’d have to be in that situation to know… but for me, I’ll see 2 days.
The New Zealand teenagers are now in Fiji after being rescued by a passing tuna boat. The boys were in good health, other than being dehydrated and badly sunburned.
The first mate of the tuna boat says they told him they survived by collecting rain water and by eating coconuts, raw fish and a sea bird that they caught. Good for these guys. I wanna see this movie

Anybody see this? This is Alberta Health Services C-E-O Stephen Duckett… dealing with reporters in Edmonton.
Now Alberta Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky says he has no plans to dismiss Duckett. Duckett has since apologized for the incident, which was broadcast on T-V and has garnered thousand of hits on YouTube.
He should be fired… now!!!

I was never really a comic-book guy. Maybe I should have been.
A Batman Comic book that sold for 10 cents back in 1939, has sold for nearly $493,000. What?! Really? I guess its a real special one, the one where we first saw Batman.
The collector asked to remain anonymous.
The man who sold the comic book is thrilled with the selling price — saying he only wishes he had another copy. Yeah, you think? I wish I woulda hung on to my Richie Rich comics. They’d be worth at least $2 by now

Wednesday is International Un-Friend Day for Facebook users. This is the day where if you have “friends” on there you don’t even know… get rid of them.
I agree 100%. Why are they your friends? If they’re your “friend” because you leave towns, cities, provinces, countries away… fine. I get that. But anyone who adds friends (Scott McGregor) just so they can see how many “friends” they can pile up, this day is for you.
I saw a guy the other day who had 22 “friends.” At first I thought… “what a loser.” Then I thought thats exactly how it should be. Good work loser. You don’t need 971 friends… you don’t.
Unfriend some people on Wednesday… do it.
P.S. Don’t forget to go to Vince & Rosie’s facebook page TODAY!!!

Our little Vince is off to Vancouver for his National Tae-Kwon-Do tournament next weekend. Nationals… Wow! Pretty impressive eh? I asked him how he qualified… he said “I just paid the entrance fee and I was in.” Oh. Well thats definetly not as impressive.
According to a poll question we asked earlier this week, 6% of you think he will win the whole thing. Really? 57% think he’ll win a couple bouts, and 37% think he’ll be one and done.
A few people have been asking me how I think he’s gonna do. No idea. I, like you, haven’t seen him fight so not sure if he’s fighting top-tier talent… or 11 year-old little girls.
Good luck, I’m sure we’ll hear when he gets back.

Is it Chillin’ for Charity if its not cold? I don’t think so but still the JDC West Crew at the U of L are putting on the 6th annual Chillen’ 4 Charity event in the bus loop this Friday.
The event runs from 11am – 3pm tomorrow, and some local dignitaries are taking part. Including our very own Scott McGregor, but apparently he’s not jumping. He’s just MC’ing. What? Get in the cold water pansy!!
Any and all proceeds go to the Lethbridge United Way

Had our Toys 4 Boys wrap up party last night at The Duke. A wonderful night with Paul Seely being the big winner. He took home all the wonderful prizes and said he’s kids were happy with all the good stuff he won.
One of the things he won, was $500 from Vince and Rosie’s Beer Budget. He says him and some friends will take out their wives for a nice supper. Great idea. Or he coulda just given it back to us… whichever.
He did bring us donuts this morning. Good work Paul!!
