City of Lethbridge residents to benefit from City’s first bike lanesResidents will now benefit from newly installed dedicated bicycle lanes along 13 Street between 26 Ave N and 9 Ave N. This is the first project completed as part of a larger Pathways and Bicycles Master Plan.“We are very excited that the bike lanes on the North side are complete,” says Transportation Planning Manager Ahmed Ali. “Residents can also look forward to additional bike lanes being added in the future.”About Bike Lanes
A bike lane is a wide, signed lane marked with a large white bicycle stencil on the pavement. The lane is restricted to bicycle travel. · On streets where there is on-street parking, bike lanes run to the left of parked vehicles.
· On streets without parking, bike lanes run alongside the curb.
· By providing a delineated bike lane it will improve cyclist safety by reducing potential conflicts between vehicular and bicycle traffic in the existing shared curb lane.
· The presence of clearly defined bike lane will also encourage vehicular traffic to travel a safe distance from the path of cyclists.

Crowsnest Pass boy Rick Rypien will likely face discipline action from the league in the next couple of days. Thing is… he could get fined for 3 things:
1. Sucker punching a Winnesota Wild
2. Abusing an official
3. Going after a fan in the crowd.
Take a look and see what you think…

Word comes out of Hollywood this morning that Mel Gibson will reportedly resurface on screen in The Hangover 2.
A source told the New York Post, “It’s a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist.” I like this… this sounds good. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October.”
Rumors started last week, when one of the cast members teased fans about an “unbelievable” surprise guest. He said, “It’s the best cameo you’ve ever seen in your entire life. It’s a guy. That’s all I’m going to say. It’s the best.”
I think this is a good move for Gibson. He’s not seen in the best light right now… and to win over, at least a small percentage of the population… is a wise decision. I know I’m interested to see it.
Many people assumed Gibson would never work in Hollywood again. There’s always work… and Mel found it.
Is this a joke to someone?

I used to be a little bit of a punk. I may have made some prank phone calls… before caller ID was ever invented. But this? This is bad… and NOT funny.
Police say a letter sent to Hutterite colonies warning that a child will be abducted, tortured and murdered by a cult during a Halloween ritual is a hoax. The letter was recently sent to schools at three Manitoba colonies, which shared it with three of their communities in southern Alberta as a warning.
Police in Vulcan say it’s a bad joke, and they want to find whoever’s behind it. Charges could range from uttering threats to hate crimes if it can be proven the letters was religiously motivated.
Don’t do this. This isn’t funny
Street Hockey

We’ve heard this battle before… and here we go again, this time, out east.
R-C-M-P and a city councillor in Nova Scotia are trying to referee a dispute between kids playing street hockey and a woman who called the cops on them.
Donna Beeler says her house has been egged and vehicle tires have been flattened since she complained about children running over her property and blocking the street with their nets.
Beeler thinks people are trying to drive her out of the neighbourhood, but she says she’s not leaving.
I hear this story and just wonder… how old is this woman? If she’s 90, and wants a little piece and quite… fine. If she’s younger then that… RELAX!!!! I played a LOT of street hockey growing up… I don’t think anyone ever complained. And look where I am! Hey? Huh……..
They’re on their way…

Didn’t I blog a couple weeks ago after a wonderful start to the pre-season… that the Edmonton Oilers were on their way? Told ya so. The season started last night with the Oilers win 4-0 at home over the Calgary Flames.
This helps the Oilers and their fans forget about last season’s disaster.
Rookie Jordan Eberle had a highlight reel goal and an assist, and Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 37 shots.
Does this mean they’ll win the Stanley Cup? Well no, I’m maybe a little premature with that. But its a great start. For the rookies, the team, and maybe most importantly… the fans.
I Feel Safe Now

This is not good. A new study of Alberta drivers suggests most of the people behind the wheel… don’t know what they’re doing. What? Seriously? How is this possible?
The University of Calgary survey found nearly 89 per cent of drivers failed a knowledge test modelled after the Class 7 learner’s permit exam. The 2,394 Albertans who took the test were quizzed on everything from merging and right-of-way to the meanings of road markings and signs, safe following distances and what to do if vehicles skid. Well I don’t know if I’d know that crap either.
Male drivers scored higher than females and younger people did better than older drivers. Because they remembered it all from the test!!!!
I failed my drivers test 5 times. True story.
