I hate you too
Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Sports Illustrated’s website SI.com has come out with a list of the sporting world’s most hated teams… ever. Ranking #1 on the list was the University of Miami football team from 1986.
There were some hockey teams that made the list. The 1974-75 Philadelphia Flyers. The Broad Street Bullies. One writer said “To the purists, they represented everything evil about the game. They were a disgrace.”
Ouch

Sly said what???
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
I’m a big fan of Sylvester Stallone, big fan of his movies, and enjoy him on TV talk shows and such. But some times he does say some dumb things. While promoting his new movie “The Expendables”, a movie we will be giving away passes to by the way, he said he was sick of seeing “insidious” violence in films, insisting movies should only feature shocking scenes in a “heroic” setting. What? Did he not see the new Rambo movie? That was one of the most violent movies I’ve ever seen.
He says he worries about the number of pictures featuring “serial killers” and he’s urging filmmakers to think twice about shooting gory scenes. “If you’re going to do violence and make it heroic, okay. But if it is insidious like a serial killer? Not good.”

Airshow
Monday, July 26th, 2010
The Alberta International Airshow has wrapped up for another year and I’m not gonna lie… I could take it or leave it.
First off, its way too damn hot. Every year its hot. How is that possible? It makes it unpleasant for me.
It’s expensive. I just paid $15-$25 to get in, and now I gotta pay $10 for my kids to bounce around on some trampoline?
I never where to go. Where to watch the planes from. I usually weasel my way into a VIP (Thank You Flaman Rentals) and sit and watch it there. If I had to sit out on the runway… I’d hate it even more.
That said… I’ll be back next year
Ha… I’m braver then Vince
Friday, July 23rd, 2010
Vince and I both had things to do on our Bucket Lists. Him jumping from a plane, me milking a cow.
We got a call saying they wanted someone to skydive before the Airshow this weekend… Vince “jumped” at the chance. But, said he had to ask his wife first. She wasn’t comfortable with it… so he pulled the ‘chute, so to speak.
Guess what I’m doing today? Milking a cow. I’m not gonna back out either. I’m doin’ it. In fact my 8 year-old daughter is too. So she’s braver then Vince too. Right? Right??? Right
Vacations are fun… aren’t they?
Wednesday, July 21st, 2010
As we’re almost halfway done summer, many people have wrapped up or are getting ready for a summer vacation. But a new survey finds that almost 30% of Albertans feel moderately to very stressed when planning vacations. Overall, women are more likely than men to feel stressed, and so are people younger than 35.
Why? Vacations are supposed to be fun. I’m not planning much this summer, but the one trip I am planning is to go down to Kalispell in a couple weeks… and I’m excited. There’s nothing stressful about it. Is there?
The survey finds that the stress typically stems from family issues or finances. It also says Albertans are the most likely in the country to want to go golfing on vacation, and the least likely to go skiing. Two-thirds want to spend time at the beach, and we are the most likely in Canada to pick a cruise as our ideal vacation.
Or go to Kalispell
Take out the weed!
Monday, July 19th, 2010
Did you know that weeds cost Albertans close to $1 billion each year!?
Well our friends down at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre, along with volunteers, this week are going to help out, by pulling weeds. It’ll happen Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. “Weed Pulls are community-driven volunteer projects aimed at removing invasive species of plants from special or protected locations within the river valley,” says Becky Little, Special Projects Coordinator for the Helen Schuler Nature Centre.
Meet at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Have you heard the audio tapes of Mel Gibson talking to his ex-girlfriend? Horrible. I never really had a problem with Mel Gibson… never really wished harm to come to him. But this is bad. You never really know everything about actors we worship. We’re finding out a little about Mel Gibson these days.
Heads up… Junk Food Tax!!
Monday, July 12th, 2010
Big day in Europe today as British doctors are urging the UK government to impose a “fat tax” on junk food and introduce cigarette-style warnings to children about the dangers of poor diets and products high in fat, salt or sugar.
This is huge. This could start a precident (sp) around the world. Could you imagine if this ever got to North America? It would change the way we shop. I know it would for me anyway.
One Doctor said… “the consumption of unhealthy food should be seen to be just as damaging as smoking or binge drinking.”
“Thirty years ago, it would have been inconceivable to have imagined a ban on smoking in the workplace or in pubs, and yet that is what we have now.” He goes on to say “are we willing to be just as courageous in respect of obesity? I would suggest that we should be.”
Good points. Should be interesting to see what the Government over there does.
But they look dorky…

Interesting story from Lethbridge Police this week. They say a 20-year-old woman reported she had been riding a bicycle along 13 Street near 1 Avenue North when a male approached her and yelled at her for not wearing a helmet. He then hit the woman with a shopping cart causing her to fall. The victim sustained minor injuries.
First off, don’t do this. Second off… this is funny. A grown woman getting yelled at for not wearing a bike helmet?? Anyone under 18 doesn’t have to wear a helmet, but most adults should. Doesn’t mean you should be yelled at if you don’t have one on though. I’ve questioned kids for not wearing helmets… pretty sure I would never yell at an adult though. Still pretty funny though.
