No white person should ever go in black face on Halloween, ever. For the same reason that you shouldn’t go as a Native, it’s just insensitive after one race has inflicted so much damage on another.

Monday night is for the kids, but this is OUR weekend.

Halloween weekend is a mystical time. It is one of the best party weekends of the year and almost everyone (male and female) goes out with two goals: Get loaded and get laid.

So here are some Halloween costume ideas that I think will add to the fun and perhaps work in your favor.

1. Movie Characters

This one is a huge crowd pleaser. Go as a funny movie character or a sexy one (little hint for the ladies: if you went as like Jessica Alba in Sin City, you are getting any man you want) you will get the attention you desire.

2. Something that bring attention to genitalia

Now guys, you may want to be more bold.  Costumes that draw attention to genitalia are a Halloween standby, however I would caution against drawing too much attention to your own (for risk of leaving her thoroughly disappointed at the the end of the night, “what do you mean my penis didn’t grant you wishes when you rubbed it?!)

The costume pictured above is perfect. It is sexual and let’s the gal know you are responsible and won’t impregnate her.

3. The Clever yet Perverted

This costume is very, very clever and it is a virtual certainty that this guy is going to see his fair share of breasts.  However, they likely won’t be naked breasts and they likely won’t be in your bed at the end of the night.

Also costumes like this are typically worn by the creepy old guy in the bar.  Be wary of that association.

4. The Downright Amazing

Look at this picture closely.  These guys “G and Gle” are going to get their pictures taken with hot chicks all night so the GOOGLE looks proper.  It’s the law of averages fellas.

A new survey by the dating site Zoosk reveals that 66% of singles think Halloween is the perfect time to meet someone special. Other findings:

- 71% of men are attracted to women in sexy costumes while 51% of women appreciate a sense of humor and are attracted to men in funny costumes

- Only 5% of men and 12% of women are attracted to someone in a scary costume.

- 32% of men plan to wear a funny Halloween costume this year while 32% of women will wear a sexy one

47% of women consider a coordinated costume as a sure sign that someone is taken. 53% of women would “proceed with caution” and still approach the person.

44% of men and 42% of women say Halloween is definitely a good night for a first date

Once again the bag ban was before council last night and after a survey found 57% of people favored it, council voted to keep the bylaw and will now work at improving the bylaw.

Yesterday I saw one twitter account that was, to put it mildly, upset that the bag ban was staying.

This statement is a rather large assumption. Most of the time I see meat put in a reusable bag it is pre bagged in plastic. So to say disease will rise is even a large assumption.

“Moving to #YEG in the New Year. Can’t wait to shake the #Stigma of #RMWB #GoodRiddance.”

This tweep claims to be a PROUD Fort McMurray resident. If you move from Fort McMurray because you have to use reusable bags that is true commitment to a cause. I however sincerely doubt it will happen.

There is more (much more) but it is all very much the same.

What said person seems to forget it that original number. 54 percent of people surveyed were in favor of it and it is council’s duty to represent the will of the people. They are also looking at improving the bylaw and fixing what people may see as the issues.

This weekend I watched the Pearl Jam 20 documentary.

I am a huge documentary guy and love rock docs perhaps most of all.

I couldn’t stop thinking about where PJ20 fit into my list of my favorite rock docs ever so I decided to actually do a list and settle the debate inside my head. Also yes I am aware that debating yourself in your head is potentially unhealthy.

5. Rush – Beyond the Lighted Stage

A fantastic glimpse inside a band that you either love or hate. Even if you hate them you will appreciate how much they have done by the time you are done watching this documentary.

4. Joy Division

Interviews and old footage of one of the most influencial bands in the history of rock. Many people know the story of Ian Curtis and Joy Division but to see it told by the people that lived it is absolutely heartwrenching.

3. Pearl Jam 20

Eddie Vedder is a notorious recluse. To see him in interviews talking about all the highs and lows of the twenty years Pearl Jam has been together is a tremendous treat. Cameron Crowe’s direction makes this movie that much more special as he intersplices old performances and interviews and other footage so seemlessly the two and a half hour run time flies by

2 . Anvil! The Story of Anvil

This is not your typical rock documentary but it is likely the most accurate portrayal of a life in rock n’ roll. The guys from Anvil have been trying to make it in rock world for decades and it just hasn’t happened. It is their story about struggling to keep their lives together while continuing to chase their dreams. An absolutely touching story.

1. Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten

I talk about this documentary quite frequently because I admire Joe Strummer so much. This documentary is what really began that admiration. Julien Temple doesn’t alway portray him with the kindest brush but it doesn portray him accurately.

It also feature several great speeches from Joe and his BBC radio show “London Calling”. One of which I will sign off this posting with.

When traffic is as bad as it was last night it is easy to tell Fort McMurray Royalty from us mere Serfs.

We sit in traffic like the obvious unimportant losers we are. We grow increasingly frustrated that we are missing supper with our family at home or our favorite TV show or hockey game featuring our favorite team. We slaved away for 12 hours and we just wish to be in our bed because we have to do it all over again tomorrow.

However Fort McMurray Royalty cruise along in comfort in their own special lane (us commoners call it “the shoulder”). They pass as by without a second thought. We are also reminded of our place when we have to allow them to get into our lane in order for them to avoid one of us serf’s broken motorcarriages.

I can see how traffic such as last night’s is frustrating for Fort McMurray Royalty. They obviously are more important than us and have much more important things to get back to their houses for.

Some day I hope to be as important as them.

In Ohio this week the operator of a animal “sanctuary” tragically committed suicide, but before doing so released all the animals.

49 of them had to be euthanized including endangered bengal tigers, grizzly bears and lions.

A few months back wildlife official here found a dead python in the Snye.

I’ve never understood the mentality of having an exotic pet. How does a snake or tarantula show their love for you? Not to mention it’s dangerous.
