The FAN 960 Flames Zone
Kal Tire

Stiff test for the Flames as they play the Caps tonight a team they have not beaten in regulation since March 26 1998 when they won 3-2. The Caps are officially unbeaten against the Flames in their past 8 meetings, but when you play every other year or so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Flames had an interested observer at practice today; the Capitals Alexander Ovechkin sat on the visitor’s bench and took it all in.

A lot was made yesterday by the media about Cammalleri centering Iginla and Bertuzzi, the one thing I will say about this line is they will all shoot.

Flames didn’t practice very long but boy did they have a long meeting afterwards, the local hockey heroes met for about 40 minutes after the skate that is roughly 30 minutes longer then normal.

The Capitals are a very cheerful bunch, their staff can’t don’t enough for you and their players are very easy to deal with, you hope good things happen to this team.

As you’re probably aware we have a new chair in the hot stove lounge that we are getting signed by our guests to auction off for kidsport at the end of the year. Boomer asked the Cap’s PR staff if #8 would sign it for us, and just like that Ovechkin walked in and signed the chair.

One Response to “Game Day Regular Season #6 vs. Wash”
  1. 1.

First off Mr. Kerr I really enjoyed your play by play on ppv last night. Great job!
Secondly, I get tired and annoyed at the criticism that has gone against Jarome Iginla.
I think most of his issues stem from sitting on the bench for extended periods of time during flame penalties. Most star players in the NHL all are involved in the pp and pk. Jarome seems to have to get his game legs going after often sitting on the bench sometimes for 4 - 6 min. As I have watched lots of hockey in my time I have certainly noticed other coaches playing their “STAR” players in all situations, except in Calgary’s case with Jarome. Any way just a comment as to why he may be struggling a bit. Keep him engaged in the game and he will usually play like the world class player he is. Thanks again for your time. Always enjoy your comments!
