Thanks to all of those who attended last night Ice Summit #3 at Don Hartman arena. In the 18 months between summit #1 and this one their have been commitments to 14 plus new sheets of indoor ice for the City and surrounding area. Now I would be happier if some of those sheets were up and operating and I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch.

Was I happy with the turnout? I would have loved to see more people show up and participate but at the end of the day it is about beating the drum and keeping the message out there. One thing I have learned by hosting these events is the post event deals that determine if the summits were a success and last night there were a number of deals both big and small brokered after the event was over, that’s what gets me excited about the process.

We still need outdoor rinks of that I am convinced, I don’t want to get all Dr. Suzuki on anybody here but the climate has changed enough to make the traditional outdoor rink a challenge. We need to get technology out there, artificial ice on the local rink so that Chinook or no Chinook young kids can get out and screw around after school and on weekends.

I really don’t like to ask much of the listeners or the readers of this blog, but if you get a chance ask the politicians who are looking for your vote this week what they are going to do about our crumbling recreational infrastructure! If it is important to you!

Flames lines at practice today.

Bertuzzi Cammalleri Iginla
Bourque Langkow Lombardi
Glencross Conroy Moss
Boyd Primeau Boyd
Prust Nystrom

Giordano Phaneuf
Warrener Aucoin
Vandermeer Sarich
Pardy

2:44 never ever, ever guess what Darryl Sutter is going to do, just when you think he is going to do somthing one way he surprises you, like he did just moments ago. The Flames leading scorer (pre-season) Dustin Boyd is on his way to Quad City, Boyd looks to be the casulty of the Salary Cap as he is on a two way contract and doesn’t need to be waived. He joins Lundmark and Erikkson assigned to the AHL, and Rhett Warrener has been placed on injured reserve.

I hope that it was explained CLEARLY to Dustin Boyd that it was a salary cap issue. That guy played his heart out in the pre-season and made something happen every time he touched the puck. Not to mention his obvious chemistry with his linemates. This is a slap in the face to Boyd. To keep Prust or Nystrom over Boyd is just plain WRONG!
Even on the TSN NHL Season Preview they wondering how a poor decision like that was made.

Hey Robbie, did you mean Roy on the 4th line. You have Boyd twice.
Also, you have Rhetro on the 2nd D-pairing. You must mean Reggie, since Warrener is injured, apparently…??

    Just check’in….
