Your Leaf comment not withstanding….I agree Bettman could care less if they strike a deal for the reasons you point out. I’ve not been to a game since the last lockout, if it happens again I’ll be dumping my sports packages…I’m fed up and I’ve got better things to do I have no pity especially for the fools who live and die by this farce of a game. That’s what its become….a farce. I say stop supporting it all together…if fans just stop then the so do the bucks.
- MarkEvery soundbite that I’ve heard from Bettman sounds smug and arrogant. Is this MORON purposely trying to miss an opportunity to grow hockey in the United States? During the playoffs this past spring, every American rink was filled with national sponsors of the league across the boards throughout the playoffs. I bet that some of those sponsors (i.e. Geico, Verizon) will stop being a sponsor of the NHL if they lockout. The fans that are the most satisfied with a prolonged lockout are the 200 people who cheer for the Phoenix Coyotes. Even if I don’t think that Quebec City will get their Nordiques back, another Canadian market which would support a team whether it be Quebec City, Hamilton, Markham is being screwed out of an NHL franchise due to a napoleonic commissioner who only cares about himself.
- MattI think we can all agree that Bettman can get bent. Every appearance that he makes he gets booed, how much more do we need to see? can we have him get fired please? pretty please? or at least make him bring the NHL back this season!
- KevBettman is a mouthpiece for the owners. He doesn’t care if he gets booed, tomatoes thrown at him or whatever. He takes the heat and the owners sit back and laugh. Only teams to lose in the lockout, if it happens, will be Ranges, Leafs and Canadiens as their profits will be down. The rest of the league will make money.
- Ed FieldsHere’s another little tidbit…NBC is paying 200 million for tv contracts…they haver to pay up whether the league plays or not..so…the owners will get about 6 million + each so don’t expect a resolution to this anytime soon. Buh bye I’m done with this crap.
