I completely agree with Wayne. This is our kid's 1984. Although it's very violent, most kids this age have encountered far worse watching prime time television. This book is taught in high schools - albeit at upper grades. But anyone who thinks that the juniors (grade 7s and 8s) aren't reading it is kidding himself. And if this movie is making kids read, then I am all for it.

I went to see The Hunger Games with my 14 year old son. It was not that bad at all. The people that say you are a terrible father, are the ones that shelter their kids. My son has read the books in his English class. They don't want to read "1984" or any of those stories written 60 years ago, they want something new and fresh. So I say to those parents out there, "Lighten up!" Kids today need way more stimulation than we did.
