Good for you for making this issue public. It is ridiculous what is being done and those involved in this decision should have to address the public…and not hide behind emails.

- billThanks for exposing a ridiculous situation at SMHA. I’m co-convenor at Midget, can’t believe the sanctions imposed on us by the establishment for trying to do the right thing. Check out the blog on the SMHA website on the topic, my entry is very much in line with your rant. Elected officials should bend the rules for common sense…
- BobThe league is at fault. The rules on team size are clearly stated in the Hockey Canada rule book.
Common sense dictates that they should know the rules and ask for an exemption when & if one is needed.
The big issue here is what would have happened if a player got injured and the insurance company balked at paying because of the failure to adhere to the guidelines as set.
As a former minor hockey administrator, coach and referee this is the stuff that always made me crazy!
- Mark17 skaters + 2 goalies = 19
18 skaters + 1 goalie = 19
What’s the difference from an insurance perspective?
So exemptions are possible, right? That’s all we are asking for to benefit the kids.
- BobPOLITICS.
- CoachSMHA isn’t the only league filled with BS. KMHA has it’s fair share of back room dealing, you help me and I’ll help you mentality. Politics in the administration, from Hockey Canada right down to each individual association seem to do their best to ruin a great game that many, many people just want to have fun playing. Don’t even get me started on the poor reffing in many associations.
