Randall, I think most everyone would be supportive of more cost effective renewable energy production.
Now Mr Kettle you are the epitome of a heavy power consumer, you make your living broadcasting over 100KW, you post on the Internet for others to comment, the show you are part of pimps Facebook and Twitter every day. If I recall correctly wasn’t the T4B main prize package the Truck and ATV this year not a bicycle and a red wagon?
You chastise all us Pots for our cars, homes and our air conditioning! Sir, we Pots are not savages, I shutter to think how the busses and elevators in the NCR would smell if it weren’t for one of the greatest gift the gods have bestowed upon mankind, air conditioning. What is next in the land of Randall Moore, no more cold beer, no more ice cream trucks, and no more summer hockey; that doesn’t sound like a land of more it sounds like a land of less!
I can only imagine that your rant was a byproduct of heat stroke following a fit of ecological remorse where you insisted management turns off the air conditioning at the station for the rest of the day and then you lost your mind. That is the only explanation for feeling bad for BP unless you are a stockholder.
I call on Doc, Woody and Eric to turn the air conditioning back on at Chez 106 in hope that Randall can regain some common sense. We don’t want the bike and red wagon in T4B, we want cold beer, ice cream, summer hockey and most of all we Pots want our air conditioning.
- KerriRunning out of oil?..what?!? It was once said that Canada would not have to drill for another drop or collect another grain of tar sand, because what we have in reseves could sustain us for 200 plus years. Green renewable energy is great…if you live in utopia. The wind has to blow everyday, and the sun has to stay out past 5:00 pm from Oct to Apr. Take a look at some of the european countries that have spent billions (something we’re in the middle of doing) on solar and wind “farms” It has been a dismal failure. The electric car craze is now upon us. Most people fail to realize the batteries in these things need to be charged every night. I would assume it would cost the same as running your block heater every night…not cheap. The power has to come from somewhere (coal, nuclear, water). Green energy is nice, but not reliable, we will always need oil in this industrialized world. BP fu#$ed up bad. How a multi billion dollar company did not have an emergency plan in place is beyond me. The media also reported that BP was made aware of a major problem at that drill site 6 days before the explosion occurred. Would it have stopped this catastrophe from occurring had BP taken action? We’ll never know.
- BryanCanada is leading the way in a renewable, green alternative, algal biofuels:

- CindyAnyone else notice that Randall Moore starts with two capitol letters just like British Petroleum does! I’m starting to suspect he is part of the corporate strategy to deflect blame to every one else ;-P
- KerriApparently the current solar panels are only able to capture a fraction of the sun’s energy so they are not very efficient. Whenever they produce better ones it might be an alternative to other sources of energy.
- JoeWhenever there is a major energy crises money is poured into developing more efficient cars and to find other sources of energy. Then the price of oil falls and we go back to normal.
First of all accidents just don’t happen. There are a set of situations that build up to the accidents, poor training, improper use of equipment or poorly maintained equipment. The main thing here is being unprepared to deal with the the accident. Yes we do need other forms energy, the oil company’s have been known to stop the development this technology.
