If I was ever self-aggrandizing enough to want to enter politics, I would change my name to “None of the above”. Even if I didn’t campaign or have a platform, I bet I would win by a landslide and once in office nobody could accuse my of making promises I had no intention of keeping. They could call me shallow, but not a liar, which is more than I can say for most of the characters we have now at all levels of government.

You’re right I get sick & tired of hearing about the politicians pension plan. What makes them so special?? Here’s a proposal; Why not make the plan the same as what the military gets!!? After all, these days damn near everybody in the Forces has volunteered to serve and if they go the the ‘Stan, to possibly give their life for the country!! How many politicians have sacrificed their lives for Canada?? (Not sure but did we not lose someone recently from a political party in the ‘Stan?)
The Military gets a pension after 10 yrs of service (their choice to take it and it is penalized – not a full pension) and a full pension at 20 years and one you could probably live on after 30 years!!!! A pension after 6 years in office, now that’s a joke, but not the funny kind!!

I do agree that more people should get out and vote, but I don’t think this is the problem. The problem is we are leader challenged. You have to have someone to vote for. At least by not voting you can screw them out of the $1.75 per vote.

Yes the bad decisions made by local government affect many. But why do we keep voting them back in? Do we so soon forget the past that we are doomed to repeat it over and over and over…like where I live out in the Kemptville area. Soon to be Round-Aboutville. We already have 2 on one of the towns main highways east to west. And soon there will be more. Not just 1 or 2 more but 4 or 5 more. Now what politicians’ great idea was this? The last time I saw that many round-abouts on one street was in a third world county. Have you ever tried to cross the road on foot at a corner with a round-about? Not to mention not many folks are familiar with the right of way etiquette for one of these things. How many years will it be before the next local government realizes the lack of forethought here and wastes more money ripping them all out? Some times these genius people get elected because too many people want change so they throw their hat in the ring to see if they can get elected, splitting the vote so dearly we are yet again left with the same old fools at the helm. My answer is, get involved, write letters, voice your opinion, show up at meetings, but most of all GET OUT AND VOTE. People die trying to vote in other countries, women died here trying to get the right to vote. Wake up People!!!

Politicians should be held accountable for what they say and promise during elections. If they don’t this is breach of trust – no different than somebody lying in a job interview. Effectively, the way I see it, we only have one day of democracy every 4 years.

Totally agree we are leader challenged, but if you don’t get out there and vote someone else in, they win. And 100% correct about having the party faithfulls out to vote, they keep track and make sure all their supporters go out and vote. So if you don’t vote for another candidate, the same people get in time and time again. Mostly because after 4 years in, they have helped certain people and those people will show their support by voting. When I said yesterday about voting for None Of The Above, it was not to infer a candidate, but None of the Above, no one gets elected unless the electorate finds someone worthy.

We are definitely leader challenged, but I won’t go so far as to say, “We want anyone, but (insert politician or political party here)!” By saying we want anyone, that’s like saying we’d even want someone uneducated to be Canada’s leader. Or teenagers or a bum off the street.

I’d like to vote for someone who has Canada’s best interests at heart and can consider the people as well. Is it really that hard, in this day and age, to find someone who’s responsible and educated enough to know how to fix our country? (Pretty sure the answer to that is yes, but I’d like to hope…)

A change is needed, or the people are all going to suffer even more.

Well Randall its just not the politicians it’s the apathy of the voter also they dont care ! If we dont care about who we select how can we expect them to care my daughter who is 20 hasnt voted and doesnt care about politics no matter how much i push and remind her. so there is plenty of blame to go around when it comes to voting and our political leaders …… APATHY IS THE POLITICIANS FRIEND. However it doesnt take away from the fact we have no rela leaders in this country.

The cost of Living in Canada has come down to how much we have to give to our Politicians, I am terribly disappointed in the Present political system we have, and fear that next election I will be throwing my vote away on a silly party such as the NDP or something along those lines.

As i am, EVERYONE is sick and tired, fed up, and frustrated.

It is terrible when you have a weak prime minister who can’t even attain a majority and it’s not hard to figure why, with broken promises( Lies ), Proroguing Parliament for personal gains with nothing to show upon his return other than shoving HST down our throat, and telling us it going to be good for us, and Crocked politicians. Jaffer/Guergis for 1 example.

Mr Mark Carney is telling Canadian We need to tighten our belts, stop spending and save, (I believe this is so the government will have more money to take from us), all in the while the Politicians voted themselves a BIG fat pension adjustment Just a few short years after the politicians voted themselves a 30% pay hike, while Canadians are taking pay cuts, facing job losses and forced to work part time at minimum wages with no benefits, and no hope for a future. I have to ask what kind of examples are politicians setting? are they working for the good of their careers, getting rich while everyone else gets poor (GREED), or are they there for the true benefit of Canada? Most politicians are already Millionaires and Billionaires why do they need more??? I guess that question answers itself. What is wrong with Mark Carney if he doesent already know that Canadians are taxed to Death? Our pokets do have a bottom and the politicians have reached it, maybe they should give some back!!

When are we going to have a True, Honest, and strong leader? LOSE HARPER AND SOON. please
