Ovechkin gets two games for his hit on Brian Campbell. The former 67 star is out indefintely with a broken collarbone. Ovechkin, a repeat offender, will be back for the weekend. Is there something wrong with this picture? Matt Cooke, meanwhile, receives nothing for blindsiding Marc Savard. I love hockey but the NHL is becoming a joke.
Randall,
- Stéphane DubéI do believe todays hockey is a joke and heres why! Money!!!! Thats all. I was a fan until a few years ago when the “boys” got locked out. And deservingly so.
My family is now doing the car racing thing instead of hockey because we believe the majority of the athlets are there to win.Which makes them”normal”….
Stéphane Dubé
There is something wrong with this picture You have three bloody IDIOTS calling the shots in the NHL: Bill Daly, Colin Campbell and the all time worst commissioner in the history of all sports: Gary Bettman. Things will not change in the NHL until these three bozo clowns are fired and/or announce their resignations. Two games for Ovechkin and nothing for Matt Cooke for dangerous play while accidental trips and barely touching a player result in penalties? What a joke. Next thing you know, the NHL (Bettman) is going to decide NOT to go to the Olympics in 2014 and/or screw up their chances of receiving a major television contract in the United States. I am looking forward to the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring but if officials are going to rig playoff games for/against certain teams (i.e. Penguins) under orders from Bettman, then I (and hopefully the masses) will tune out this year’s playoffs. The NHL is becoming a massive joke. Let’s hope a lot of change happens in the NHL and that starts with Daly, Campbell, and Bettman being replaced by people who will change the NHL and turn it around in the right direction. Let’s hope that these three clowns are gone soon.
- MattI abosutely do not agree with the NHL’s decision on Ovechkin. He seen Campbells numbers and still pushed him into the boards. Do we actuall have to go to the extreme of having stop signs put on the back of the NHL jerseys to stop this crap they are grown men not to mention proffesional athletes. Don Cherry has been saying this for years and some leagues have actually picked it up. The no touch icing is also a great idea, to many players are getting severely hurt by this. The NHL has to start thinking of the players and stop thinking about their ratings.
- gary farnsworthI agree that having any particular management in place for an extended period of time is bad for business. re:Bill Daly, Colin Campbell and Gary Bettman
- bobanybody delivering a cheap hit should sit the same time as the player is out with the injury, and maybe that would put a end to the cheap hits, or maybe have to pay some of their wages to the injured player.
