So I said  former Conservative M-P Rahim Jaffer received a ‘ sweetheart ‘ deal from the courts after originally being charged with  drunk driving,  careless driving and  cocaine possession.    A 500 dollar fine. Not bad.  The ‘ usual suspects ‘  say  I’m doing a smear job on behalf of the Liberals.    Really?  The judge in the Jaffer case   was appointed by the Ontario government in 2000 when current Federal finance minister Jim Flaherty  was the provinical Attorney General.

Just thought you should know.

I’m not saying that the liberals or conservatives or even our current mayor are above making behind closed door deals. But what probably happened in the case of Jaffers but which will never be reported is that the cops screwed up the search and seizure and there was no way that the crown could make a case without the evidence.
Still think the penalty was not enough for a public figure. He should have been forced to speak to high school students as community service.

This is just another case of our lax punishment laws. Everybody gets light sentences in Canada, especially if you have money or fame, and it is not restricted to the Conservatives. Margaret Trudeau got off her DUI as well. Karla Homolka got away with murder. People on death row in other countries want to come back to Canada to serve their time. Who wouldn’t? Earl Jones literally stole peoples money and how much time did he get? 11 years but is elligable for parole in less than 2 years from now. Terrorists are sentenced to time served plus a day…boy there’s a deterant. Plead guilty and get out of jail faster. Our system is a joke, an equal joke for all concerned.

I realize that the judge in the Jaffer case was appointed by Flaherty back in the day, but it wasn’t the judge who withdrew the charges against Jaffer but the Crown Prosecutor. So your hint that there was some kind of Tory plot at hand, is baseless. Just thought you’d like to know.
