What started out as a car-jacking in North Bay ended up in a massive search here in Sudbury.
Local police were called for assistance around 3 yesterday afternoon when a vehicle being chased by the OPP along Highway 17 entered the Sudbury area.
That chase into the city ended at the east end of Lasalle Blvd when the suspect ditched the vehicle and took off on foot into the bush.
Police immediately secured the area and called in the K-9 unit and the OPP helicopter.
Residents in the immediate area were told to stay indoors and three schools were locked down because the suspect was said to carrying a knife.
The search ended at 10:40pm when the suspect was found on Bancroft Drive.
The 28-year old is facing charges related to the North Bay incident as well as the chase and search in Sudbury.
The suspect is also facing additional charges in Sudbury….two for break and enter as well as mischief, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
