Two people were arrested after a police pursuit Wednesday night between Lively and Whitefish.

Sudbury OPP had stopped a vehicle at a RIDE check on Highway 144, around 11:30pm, but the driver refused to pull over and a chase began along Highway 17 West.

The vehicle was found abandoned in Whitefish.

The male and female suspects were located with the help of the canine unit.

28-year old Shawn Laderoute of Whitefish is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight From Police, Obstructing Police, Driving While Under Suspension and Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance.

28-year old Melissa Wolfe of Chelmsford is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
