Greater Sudbury will soon have its first multi-use Sportsdome.

Ward 8 Councillor Fabio Belli told City Council about the partnership between the Sudbury & District Catholic School Board and Farley Group, from Toronto, to create the dome.

The facility will be located behind St Charles College, using one of its soccer fields.

The bubble will cover most of the soccer field with four miniature fields with artificial turf, change rooms and a clubhouse.

The private developer will operate and own the dome with some revenue going to St-Charles College.

Belli calls it a win-win situation because its an opportunity to have the facility at zero costs to the taxpayer.

Construction is set to begin in May with the opening slated for October.
