Final work is underway to finish the renovations at Science North in time for the reopening later this week.

Sudbury’s educational tourist attraction introduced two of its three Animal Ambassadors back into to their homes today.

Science Director, Jennifer Pink, says visitors will noticed the biggest change on the third floor, where the Northern Ecosystems Exhibit is .

She says there are new animal habitats, science exhibits that complement these habitats, new animal demonstrations, and new science demonstrations with Blue Coats.

Quillan the Porcupine and Drifter the Beaver were returned to their permanent homes today.

Rosie the skunk will be returned before the end of the week.

Science North officially reopens on Saturday, but members will get a sneak peak during an open house Thursday (4-9pm) and Friday (11am-9pm).

The renovations have kept the centre closed since October.

Some natural health products can interact with prescription drugs used to treat chronic diseases.

Pharmacists are encouraging patients on three or more medications to have a MedCheck consultation, which provides a review of prescriptions and possible interactions with other products being used.

Chelmsford Pharmacist, Ken Burns, says the free consult is important so patients can understand their own health issues.

He say he discusses with the patient the list of medications and how they may interact with over the counter products or natural supplements.

The patient can then pass this information on to other health care providers helping them along the way.

Burns says Ginseng and St John’s Wort are two natural products that can interact with prescriptions.
