Sudbury’s application for Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance funding has been turned down.
The city made the application following severe flooding caused by a rainstorm back on July 26th.
The province determined the the value of the uninsured damage did not exceed the financial resources of the community…thus the city did not meet the criteria to be declared a disaster area.
City CAO Doug Nadorozny says the news is disappointing , but city staff is working to make sure that appropriate response measures are put in place.
A committee was put in place and is looking into issues like drainage, communications an emergency response.
A final report will be made to Council in February.
