Meantime local Steelworkers shut down part of Haig Street to greet Federal Liberals last night…

Inside the Caruso Club a Liberal Fundraiser worth 550 dollars a plate, outside desperate miners trying to make their cause public.

This after Steelworkers met with Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff earlier in the day.

Local President John Fera says he seemed receptive and hopes he’ll keep his word to make the situation public.

Meantime he tellsĀ Q92 they’ve been taking to the government as to what happens next if Vale Inco resumes production

“There’s a process that has to happen, they can’t do it in the dark, but we just have to make sure that all these rules are followed….we’re making this public,” says Fera.

The strike has now entered it’s eighth week
