Hi Pat, listening in Berlin, Germany. Love Pheneuf, he’s great at gaining the blue line and rushing the puck Jokinen style. Question, could Dion be put on the wing Vandermeer style…(Brent Sutter coach, might be open to this?) no that Jay Bo is a Flame. Go Flames Go!

    Great work!!

PS: Kylie, thanks for tuning in, happy Canada Day! To be honest with you, I don’t think we’ll see Brent do that with Dion. I know Keenan tried that 2 seasons ago, but lets face it…Phaneuf is a top notch PP performer, he’s a great puck mover from the blueline, and the addition of JBo gives them a ridiculous top 4…Dion, Jay, Sarich, Regehr.

Is or have you guys still heard the rumors of dion being traded? Dis I not understand , but wasn’t Sutter proud of Dion when drafted.I love Dions play and I think with Brent Sutter behind the bench you will see a different Dion. Who do you think will play with Dion? Sarich or Bouwmeester?

PS: Yeah, we’ve heard the rumours, but we all believe them to be unfounded rumours. I don’t think you should trade him, but I KNOW Sutter won’t trade him, I just don’t see it happening. In terms of pairings, I don’t know…I still like Dion playing with Giordano. Remember Regehr needs a partner too…him and Bouwmeester might not be too bad!

    Pat: RE: Heatly

If a guy requests a trade, doesn’t that imply he has waived in no-trade clause?

How can Heatly choose his destination?

    Rino

PS: Heatley has the no trade clause, but requests a trade…you’d think if a trade is there, he’d go, but this whole thing has been bizarre, so who knows!

Best part of free agency. Ddanny Heatly won’t go to Edmonton, Darryl Sutter does to sign the best free agent available. Gotta suck for Edmonton. Go Flames Go!
Hey, is there a statute of limitations or something like that when it expires you can play the LOALA song again?
    Marty

PS: Eeek, I don’t think we’d play Lola again, just because we don’t want to suffer the wrath of the Oilers! As for Heatley, don’t count it out yet, the Oil are still the frontrunners right now.

What’s wrong with Edmonton? First Bouwmeester rejects even considering his hometown as a potential destination. And now, Alberta native, Heatley rejects Edmonton too.

When Edmonton called on Patt Quinn to take the reigns as Head Coach combined with all of their young talent, I dreaded it because I thought Edmonton would be a far more attractive destination for these players in comparison to Calgary.

It hurts to be an Edmontonion right now.

PS: Again, lets not count out the Heatley thing yet…apparently the Oilers are still in play. But it’s true and telling…Edmonton doesn’t seem to be a #1 destination right now.

Just wondering where teams are finding the cap room? How can Chicago afford Hossa? For that matter, how can the Flames afford JB? It’s a great signing, but where’s the money the money going to come from to sign guys who can put the puck in the net? We lost Cammy…Jokinen showed very little…beyond Iggy, who can they count on? Not sure I understand the amount of money spent on JB, Dion, Robyn, and Kipper. Throw in Iggy and Jokkinen and that doesn’t leave much for the rest of your team.

PS: In my mind, Chicago is going to have to trade someone…with Campbell making a lot of money, he might be a guy primed to go, but who knows. Remember, Chicago have Kane, Toews, and Keith up for RFA after this season. As for the Flames; Jokinen is done after this year contract wise. Bourque had 20 last year, Moss is evolving, Glencross is evolving. To be honest, I’m not worried.

Hey guys, love the station, the Mike Richards show gets me to work every day and you guys keep me update all the time. ON that note I wanted to give cudos to you for your work and passion. You’re updates are quicker on your site than TSN or Sportsnet. Thanks for the great programming. Hey will we make a trade to beef up our front line scoring a bit today? Thanks.
    Denton

PS: Denton, thanks for the kind words, we are doing our best! As for a trade, I’m not sure…I don’t believe the Bouwmeester signing NECESSARILY means they need to trade someone. Could it happen? Yeah, but I think for now Daryl is going to maybe tweak a little bit and for the most part be content with the team assembled heading into training camp.

Good work Pat,You guys do a great job,I think the Flames should get another top end forward.Who can we get and who is out there? Also I think Danny Heatly will be an Oiler,As you guys were saying,I think he wanted to see who was out there.

PS: Thanks Chris. As far as top end forwards, I don’t believe the Flames will be in the market for one. With the shift clearly being focused on defence for this team, I don’t think a top end forward is a priority, mostly because they don’t have the cap space to bring one in. I think we’ll see Daryl make 1 or 2 tweaking moves, but I believe he’s content with the team heading into training camp.

Habiboulin to Edmonton, sounds good. Now maybe Heatly will want to sign.Maybe he was concerned about Edmonton Goal Tending.Just a thought!!

PS: 4 years and $15 million for Khabibulin.

I think the Flames should re sign Camillari. How about Chris Neil?I think he would fit in well with Calgary

PS: I’d love to see Cammalleri back, but it seems pretty unlikely, but I haven’t ruled it out in my head. But my head is a little different from the Flames brass. Chris Neil would be a good fit, but apparently he’s looking for 2 mil a season.

GREAT MOVES by the Flames. Umm people who think Cammy is coming back, either don’t realize there is a “Salary Cap” or don’t know their grade 10 math. I wish he could come back, but it’s not going to happen.

PS: It would be tough to get it done, but it could be done. I don’t think it’s going to to be honest, but money wise, things could be worked out if the appetite was there for both sides. That’s a big if however.

well nice to see cammerelli get a hugh contract.. unfortunately, with the signings in montreal today, i’m afraid his agent never told him he was getting paid in canadian tire money

PS: Man, Montreal is just throwing money around today. They lose a lot of players though, remember most likely Kovalev, Tanguay, Schneider, Lang are all gone. Cammalleri gets way more than he would have in Calgary, that’s for sure.

ian laperierre would ave been a steal for us at that price.. hm, maybe sutter is out of money or.. …is he?

PS: Sutter still has money, but he also has some stuff to take care of. Dustin Boyd has yet to be signed, we haven’t gotten the money terms yet on Adam Pardy.

  14. 14.

I don’t know how Sutter does it, but he keeps bringing good talent to Calgary. “Good on him”, as they say down under.

The Leafs, the Oil, the Habs and the Sens are in t-r-o-u-b-l-e.

Eric Duhatschek: I could listen to the single most knowledgeable voice on the NHL ALL DAY LONG! He is the man.

You guys are doing a great job. I can’t wait for October to come around.

hey pat im from australia so the only sites i can find out about the free agency are here and on nhl.com i listen to the station every day and theres not a game i havent heard of the flames the past few seasons so keep up the great work just quickly im seing on nhl.com that fredrik sjostrom has signed with the flames is there any truth to this? and what role would he play would he be of a more of a 4th line player or is hes along as more of a defensive forward espically seing as he is coming from a very defensive minded team in the rangers?

thanks heaps, again love the work you guys are doing cant wait for october.
