Summertime blogging has been a bit of an afterthought for everyone here. We suck and I apologize for all of us.
Okay, first thing, on the Olympics. People are all up in arms after watching Usain Bolt of Jamaica coast his way to the 100 meter final. Celebrating at the 80 meter mark, pumping his chest and ripping his shirt off. AND STILL SETTING A WORLD RECORD. Memo to pompous, jackass media types…this is called emotion and excitement. It is NOT showboating and contrary to the spirit of the games. Greatest moment of the games for me…the guy is far and away better than anyone else, he’s a complete freak, and he’s able to celebrate while the race is still going on. Awesome.
Our boy Mike, one of our emailers, is convinced that Michael Phelps can’t be doing this naturally. I’m the complete opposite. Everything about this guy seems legit, from his attitude, to his freak size 14 feet, to his double jointed torso or whatever the hell it is. Drugs don’t do that! This is one of the greatest feats of all time, and in my mind, the greatest ever. Bolt’s world record could be overtaken eventually. 8 golds in one games? I think not. However, could NBC show his mother anymore than they have? I’m sure she’s as proud as can be, but I don’t need to sit through her entire reaction throughout a 2 minute race. And those commentators…too much Phelps man love? Perhaps.
Finally, Alexander Ovechkin is looking for a date apparently. This is classic…
If you don’t feel like watching the WHOLE thing, the jist of it is…AO is lonely, he wants some loving, and he’s willing to give out his phone number to do so. These are some of his quotes…when talking about why he hasn’t had success with American women, he says “They say hello, I say hey, next thing you know they say rape. It’s about money. Next thing you know you are arrested.” Interesting. And then of course, he has some thoughts on his ideal woman…”Show me one such girl and I’d fall on my knees and say, ‘You are my temple of poetry.” I know that AO isn’t picture-esque when it comes to the looks, but with that pay check? I find it hard to believe he’s having trouble pulling.

In response to your comment earlier today about how girls don’t listen to your station…
I try and listen every afternoon, but I still wouldn’t date AO. However, I’m planning on marrying Phelps.
PS: Ha, that’s awesome. The more listeners of the fairer sex, the better…no knock on dudes, but a little balance is always good. Marrying Phelps hey? At least you’d never drown.
- StephAnother faithful female listener. I listen all morning and afternoon to the Fan. I sometimes get strange looks from people from listening to my little hand-held radio on the bus, especially if it’s an early Flames game. Good show yesterday, I managed to see the Henry Burris interview after work. You guys should do live shows at Banker’s Hall more often.
PS: We are more than glad to have you! I’d love to be at Bankers Hall every day, anything to get me out of this danky stadium working in the “newsroom”.
