It remains busy on the NHL front…

-Ray Emery is done in the NHL, at least for next season. The former Sens goalie signs a 1 year deal with some team in the new Continental Hockey League in Russia. The team’s name is the very catchy Atlant Mytishchi. Emery might need this video to help him get into the swing of things…

-The Columbus Blue Jackets signing Mike Peca to a 1 year deal, that’s at 1.315 million. The Jackets also renew the contract of Ken Hitchcock at Head Coach for 3 more years.

-Speaking of coaching, Rick Tocchet and Wes Walz join the coaching staff for the Tampa Bay Lightning as assistants.

-Washington gets Sergei Fedorov under contract for another year at $4 million while Brooks Laich signs a 3 year deal worth $6.2 million.

    Hey Pat,
    The link doesn’t work.
I am glad that Sutter didn’t pick up that head case too!!!

PS: Yeah, Emery needs to go away for a while, come back when you’re relevant. It’s too bad about the link, it’s awesome!

This is already old news, however, with this being Stampede week here, I shall continue to “beat a dead horse etc.” I have a question. Who, in your mind, do you think gets the best value for money in these signings. Washington getting old Fedorov for 4 mil and Brooks Laich for 6.2 over 2, Columbus paying Peca 1.315 or, yeah, you guessed it, big bad Bert for 1.9? (the price the Flames are paying him).

PS: Man, and those are just some of the salaries from today! Think about Jeff Figner for 3.75, and Huselius for 4+ etc…in terms of a hockey move, the Flames got Bertuzzi cheap! Now keep in mind he’s getting paid out like 2.5 mill from Anaheim, which is why he was willing to take such a low salary here, he’ll be looking for 3-5 mil per season after this 1 year deal expires.
