The Coyotes add some depth to their blueline in acquiring the former Flame. Hale plays a pretty sound defensive game, but lacks much offensive upside. He will become a 6th or 7th defenceman for the Coyotes and will compete with Matt Jones and Keith Yandle for playing time on the back end.
As a side note, an interesting fact about the Coyotes. The oldest player on their roster is Steven Reinprecht at 32 years of age (Ed Jovanovski is also 32 but has a later birthday, while Shane Doan turns 32 later this month.) They have lots of very promising young players at forward and they added veteran Olli Jokinen on draft day who is in his prime at 29 years old. They surprised almost everyone with their competitiveness last year and might be ready to compete for the playoffs in 2008-09.
