Jonathan Drouin shines in debut
Sixteen-year-old Jonathan Drouin had 2 assists in his first game as a Moosehead Tuesday night at Metro Centre as the Herd beat the Bathurst Titan 4-3.
The Mooseheads trailed several times throughout the game, tying it several times only to fall behind again. It was a rush in the third period where Drouin fed Alexandre Grenier for the game-winner with three minutes to go.
Although Drouin started the game on a line with Martin Frk and Nathan MacKinnon he was moved to a line with Grenier. The two teamed up on the first goal of the game as well, with Drouin setting things up with a beautiful cross-ice feather pass that left Grenier with a wide-open cage.
Although all eyes were on Drouin, it was captain Cameron Critchlow who was named first star. Critchlow scored the tying goal to make it 3-3 unassisted.
The game was a chippy affair, and it will only get chippier when the two teams play again Thursday night in Bathurst.
