Reports are circulating that the Halifax Mooseheads No. 2 pick overall at the 2011 entry draft will report to the organization after all.
Sixteen-year-old Jonathan Drouin did not report to August training camp, his family wanted him to play another year of Midget AAA with the Lac St-Louis Lions.
However, Drouin travelled to Halifax in mid-November. Coach Domonique Ducharme said Drouin was having “second thoughts” about his decision to play Midget for another year and was exploring his options. The 16-year-old is third in Quebec Midget AAA scoring with 53 points in 22 games.
RDS is reporting Drouin will be in Halifax next week. The Mooseheads do have three games this weekend however Drouin needs to finish his final exams before the move.
Despite the reports Mooseheads team brass aren’t confirming anything.
“Nothing’s been solved yet, the talks have been positive,” says General Manager Cam Russell. “We’re happy in the direction they’re moving in. But we really can’t say much about it because we haven’t gotten past that stage yet.”
