Moose double up on PEI Rocket
Halifax Mooseheads rookie Nathan MacKinnon continued his stellar play Friday night, scoring a goal and adding three assists to help lift the Mooseheads over the PEI Rocket 6-3 at Metro Centre.
Gabe Desjardins took a nice backhand pass from MacKinnon on a rushing play with 30 seconds to go in the first and deked the Rocket netminder.
The teams went to the dressing room with the Mooseheads leading 1-0, but in the second the floodgates opened. Two quick goals by Louick Marcotte and Ben Duffy put the Rocket in their first and only lead of the game.
Nathan MacKinnon took the puck to the other end just seconds later and tied the game back up. From there Desjardins would add his second goal, and Luca Ciampini and Matthew Boudreau would add goals of their own.
Zach Fucale started his 13th straight game, he faced only 16 shots on the evening. Meanwhile his counterpart at the other end of the rink, 17-year-old Antoine Bibeau faced 34 shots.
Trey Lewis returned to the lineup after being sidelined with concussion-like symptoms on last weekend’s roadtrip to Quebec. Martin Frk (F), Steve Gillard (D) and Anthony Terenzio (G) remain out of the lineup.
