I just stumbled accross your blog, and immediately submitted my vote.
Heck, I'd vote Tom for Pope, and I'm not even Catholic.
Just one thing though. Why, at this point in the month is there only 161 votes for Tom?
He trails his rival by 12 votes.
With all the folks on here saying they are voting every day, I expected a MUCH higher number.
C'mon folks, let's get'r done.
Dan

MW: The vote totals seem to reset on a regular basis. I only hope someone at the Hall of Fame is keeping track of the results of all the polls.

Hey Mike,

Just voted for Tom and will keep doing so daily. Glad the whole Halladay thing is over and I actually look forward to next season. But then again I always look forward to the baseball season

I agree with what you said on the bullpen the other day, in that I think we will see Halladay down the road again some day and I'm not referring to when the Phillies come to T.O.

Keep up the good work and never stop serving it up to the fans that call you with dumb ass comments and question.

Hi Mike,
Is MLB team's payroll based on 25-active roster or 40-man roster?
Please let me know.

Thank you,

MW: 25-man.

Mike...Would a guy like Sidney Crosby have been eligible for that Sports Illustrated award that Jeter won? Is it a "U.S. born" trophy or for anyone to win? If it was for anyone to win, I would've liked Crosby or Malkin to have won it...Two very young guys who defeated the defending Stanley Cup champs, against the odds.

MW: Anyone can win, but you have to play a sport that people actually notice in the U.S.

This is a memorable quote from 'Alice Through The Looking-Glass':

"The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday - but never jam to-day.'"

I'm beginning to feel as if the Blue Jays are owned and run by the White Queen. And have been owned and run by her ever since Labatt's sold the club in her direction. Interbrew was just a front and so is Rogers.

We've had Jam Yesterday until we were sick of it. The Jays, we were told, were being built to contend in 2006. They didn't.. Then 2007. Payroll was upped and big stars were bought. 2007 didn't pan out so there was 2008 which didn't go too well either. So in 2009 we switched to Jam Tomorrow. We would pay for free agents and contend in 2010, and we'd rebuild in 2009. But 2009 was a devastating mess and the 2010 season is just around the corner. We're told that the team won't do too much next season because--Jam Tomorrow!--they'll maybe contend in 2011.

I have supported a rebuild. I know the team has very little choice. But I wish just once the Blue Jays fans could have Jam Today. Because I think we sorely need it and I also think we deserve it. A fanbase can starve to death on a regular diet of Jam Yesterday and Jam Tomorrow.

MW: The whole point of a rebuild - or a "build", as it were - is so that the fans can have jam every day for a long time.

Mike what a great blog, Tom Cheek was the best..no need to comment further. As to the Jays....letting Inglett go was a bit of a disapointment, but I guess Alex deemed him expendable. Gonzalez dosen't exactly thrill me either, keep Johnny Mac at short and spend some cash on a 1st baseman or right fielder. (lind can play 1st Snider can play lf and a free agent can patrol rf) I've voted for Tom as well, a couple of times and it's a shame he's not in yet, hate to think because it's he worked in Canada but to me there's no other reason than that. Take care and have a good off season

MW: Thanks, I can't think of another reason, either.

I love Doc, and admire him for everything he's done for the team thus far..but i gotta say, he and his agents are acting like a bunch of a-holes lately. Allegedly, Docs been rejecting a series of deals (to Minny, Texas, Brews) for not being competitive enough. Now hes rejecting teams like the Dodgers and Angels cuz they dont have spring training in Florida; essentially, only leaving the Sox and Yanks as potential suitors...well too F-ing bad Doc...if family is his priority, than stick with the situation u have and shut up...He wants to maintain and be around his current residence, he demands an immidiate 100 mill+ extension, and he demands it be one of the top 3 teams in the league...just for that, I hope he endures another year of blue jay mediocrity

MW: You're allowing yourself to get very upset about reports that you don't even know are true (and are likely not). There's no question Halladay would like to be with a team that holds spring training around the Tampa area, but that's not just the Yankees and Red Sox, it's also the Phillies, Orioles, Rays, Tigers, Braves, Astros and - to a lesser extent - Red Sox and Twins. I don't think he'd turn down a deal to the Angels or Dodgers because they train in Arizona, though. He's not going to demand an immediate 100+ million dollar extension.
