The Detroit have had their way in the Central Division for close to a decade. They have won eight consecutive division titles and have had nine straight 100 point seasons. Both those accomplishments will probably come to an end this year. The 100 points is reachable but with the Chicago Blackhawks playing the way they are, winning the Central Division may be hard to do. The Wings have also qualified for the postseason eighteen consecutive years, but if the playoffs were to start today, they would be watching instead of playing. They currently rank tenth in the Western Conference and have only one win in their last five games scoring only five goals over that span. If the Flames continue their stellar play on the road, they could run Detroit’s record to one win in their last six. Mikka Kiprusoff and Chris Osgood oppose one another tonight, and if this game comes down to goaltending, you have to like the Flame’s chances. One side note: Jerome Iginla has not scored in nineteen straight regular season games vs. the Wings, something he would like to change tonight.
