Twins weekend

November 16th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

I got to spend some time with my nieces over the weekend,  and we had a blast!

My 15 year old twin nieces Ioana and Maria had a hockey game Friday night at the Hershey Centre, so we went to watch them play. All was well, until about 5 minutes into the second period when Maria got into a bit of a scuffle against the boards with another girl…which resulted in Maria getting a 5 minute major and a game suspension. Truthfully, it wasn’t an intentional hit, but the ref saw it a bit differently…so off she went, and she watched the rest of the game from the stands with me.

After the game, the whole family…me, Carl, the Twins, their Dad Ray, my other 2 neices Megan and Amy, and their parents Bill and Joyce, went for some grub at Montana’s.

By the time we got back to our place…got the twins showered up..and watched a bit of TV….it was 1:30 am, and Dude…I was wrecked!! I think I fell asleep in about 2 seconds flat!

Lili Mae had me up at 7am Saturday for her usual romp with her “fur buddies” at the park. Needless to say…I almost open mouth kissed my Tassimo coffee machine once it started spewing out the Starbucks java for me to take with me to the park.  If you know anyone who works at Starbucks Head Office…please tell them they HAVE TO open one close enough to my house so I can walk to it…I can’t tell you how much I would LOVE that!!!!!! lol

After Lili’s play session, it was home for a shower, and then off with the girls to the mall! Hey…you know you’re getting old, when every store you go into has music playing so loud, that you actually have to raise your voice to be heard, and even with 20/20 vision, you have to look at the price tag 3 TIMES!!!!!

The first time, to see how much the item cost, the 2nd time,  to see how much the item cost because you REALLY couldn’t read it the first time because the lighting is so dim and dark in the store. And the 3rd time, to see how much the item cost, because there must be some sort of mistake with the tag…there is NO WAY I’m buying a 65 dollar t-shirt (that looks like it’s been handed down since 1975) for a 15 year old teen who is just going to lend it to her best friend…who is never going to give it back!  (yeah..I remember ALL that happening to me when I was a kid…you too?)

Anyway, we had A LOT of fun together and I wished they could’ve spent the entire weekend with us, but they had another hockey game Saturday evening and then again on Sunday, so they had to go.

Sunday was spent putting together the Xmas greenery for the urns flanking my front door, catching up on all the shows I PVR’d last week, and making a huge pot of spaghetti sauce…Carl had a craving. :)

Lili Mae’s Bday

November 11th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

Miss Lili Mae had her Birthday yesterday…she is now 2 years old!

Did I remember??? Umm I’d love to say I did, but…I didn’t.  :(

Thank you to CHFI Listener Sandy Dent for the reminder.  Now if I could have just retained that information for longer than the 5 seconds it took me to read said reminder email from Sandy….nope!

Any hoosie….later yesterday afternoon, I got a call from our neighbours Lisa & Heather asking if they could drop something off for Lili Mae for her Birthday.  Oops…forgot AGAIN!!!

Lisa’s Mom….who makes Doggie Bday cakes…made this one for Lili Mae which she devoured in about 3 minutes flat!  Thanks Lisa’s Mom, and to Heather and Lisa (the sweetest couple EVER)  for remembering my “fur child’s” birthday…..because CLEARLY I didn’t!!!!!!

Little Miss Swift on SNL

November 9th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

If you were lukewarm on her before…there is NO WAY you can’t be completely in love with her now, after seeing her self effacing, wicked sense of humour on Saturday Night Live last weekend. She rocked this monologue for sure! Hope you like it as much as I did.

The smaller the grapes….

November 6th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

Over the years I’ve heard a lot of my Girlfriends complain about how much they despise bra shopping.  How they never fit properly…or how their boobs just don’t “look right” in most styles of bras.  Hmmm, since I’ve never had that problem…it’s hard to empathize.

Now before you get all bitter,  and think I’m bragging about how easy it is for me to buy a bra..remember this… if you DO have a problem with bra’s fitting….you probably have bigger tah tah’s than I, and that makes me…someone with the smaller kind…a teeny bit envious. :)

Ok…now that we have THAT out of the way, they reason I brought up the bra situation is because I was REALLY excited yesterday after buying 3 super cute..padded and push-up bras for 10 bucks each!! Whoo hoo!!!! Y’all know how much I like a deal..and THAT’S a good one!

Anyhoo….it reminded me of a funny email I got from Ed Chung (a CHFI Lisener) a few months ago. I had a little chuckle when I read the joke and I hope you do too!!! Have a great weekend, and here’s some info to remember the next time you’re out getting a new “over the shoulder boulder holder”.  lol

Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, and H are the letters used to define bra sizes? If you have wondered why, but couldn’t figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time you became informed!

(A} Almost Boobs..
{B} Barely there…
{C} Can’t Complain!..
{D} Dang!…
{DD} Double dang!…
{E} Enormous!…
{F} Fake…
{G} Get a Reduction…
{H} Help me, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!…

Weird men at work

November 4th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

Ok, you can start feeling sorry for ME now…for a change.

You already know what Miss Erin has to deal with in the morning with a room full of guys….but now unfortunately, they’ve continued their antics past 9am in the studio and I feel I may never look at the Wise Guys the same again.

So I thought I’d take pictures of what the weirdos were up to in the studio today….so you too can NEVER look at them the same again!lol

They kept coming in wearing various hats and costumes. I told them to check the calendar as Halloween was CLEARLY over, but it didn’t stop them. While taking the picture’s I almost wet myself a few times because I was laughing so hard!!! It’s wasn’t what they were wearing that had me so cracked up, it was the stupid looks they made while wearing them!!! Then, I laughed harder because they didn’t break character once while posing for me!!!

Brace yourself…the Wise Guys don’t look so “wise” in these pics! :)

Told ya!!!! lol

Long time no write. :)

November 2nd, 2009 by michelle.butterly

Wow, has it been a month already???

You would think I would have A TON to catch you up on, but really I don’t. I played my last ball tournament in Mid-October so that’s it for the year. If Rogers Centre does the Round The Clock Tournament in January, I’ll play in that, but if not…I’ll have to wait until next spring to play ball again.

I have started up my winter sports now. I’m back playing Platform Tennis on Monday’s, and Volleyball on Wednesday’s.

I was on the party train a bit in October joining friends in K-W for Oktoberfest…an absolute riot at the fest halls!!! I was in London (my hometown) hooking up with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time another weekend, and then last weekend I had a small dinner party for Halloween!!!

I’m now going to rat on my friend and neighbour STP, who turned off all the lights at her place and locked the doors, and didn’t give any candy out for Halloween this year!!! Can you imagine??? :)

It worked out well for me because STP was at my dinner party fetching Carl beer (who stood outside to give the trick or treaters their loot) when ever he needed it while I was in the kitchen getting things ready for our other guests.  (Sait and Ingi)

Carl is on crack..did I happen to mention that??? lol   At about 5:45pm he went up stairs to have a shower, and asked me to “man the door” in case any kids came trick or treating. About 15 minutes later he calls down from upstairs and says “…any kids yet”? I say “no”, and he says, “..you have to stand outside and entice the kids to come over”!!!  I’m like “…dream on brother because THAT ain’t happening”! lol

So again, Carl wore his ridiculous Sumo costume…and stood outside for 2 and a half hours enticing the kids to come over and take candy from him…how cute is THAT??? We were inside the nice warm house, drinking wine and beer and laughing at hearing the kids approach the house screaming “…THAT is the BEST costume EVER”!!!!

And here it is…….

Oh…and he kept telling all the kids that he was feeling a little bit bloated tonight!!! I mean seriously….who DOES that?????

Secret Agent Wo-Man!

September 30th, 2009 by real.life

Have you ever dreamt of being a secret agent or a spy?  How TOTALLY cool would THAT be right?????

Today in the Toronto Star there’s an article to take a test to see how awesome an agent you would be!   I thought I would rock this test out…but apparently, I’m not a good liar, which is usually a good thing…but if you want to be 007 Jane Bond…and not get a bullet to the brain…not so good. The U.K. Secret Intelligence Service…once known as MI6,  isn’t saying that this is a real test, but they are encouraging those who do well to apply to be a spy!

Take the test now.

Beyonce Lover Video (cute)

September 23rd, 2009 by michelle.butterly

We all know Beyonce’s a pretty cool piece of work…and we all love her music, but who knew this little guy would be so enthralled!!! Check it out. It’s scoot!!! Just in case you think that’s a typo…it’s not, that’s just short form….instead of saying it’s soooo cute..you just say it’s scoot!! Do ya think it will catch on? Probably not, but Madonna tried to get vogueing back into dance clubs and that didn’t work for her either..although Madonna is the Queen of Pop..and I’m just the Queen of….well…nothing really.   lol

ok…click your link to a smiling face now.

Dave Dunmore Memorial Slo-pitch Tournament

September 22nd, 2009 by michelle.butterly

I played in the 25th annual Dave Dunmore Memorial Slo-pitch Tournament last weekend. Now if you live and play ball in Toronto (male or female) you know this is the most fun tourney of the year!!!

Here’s the background info: Dave Dunmore was a Toronto Police Officer killed in the line of duty on September of 1984.  In his memory, his fellow officers and friends have run this ball tournament to raise money for all different charities over the years, including Victim Services Toronto. It is a HUGE effort…200 teams playing all weekend at parks all over the west end of the GTA. Thank you to Bart Evans, Marty Olson, and Dave Knowles for putting together such an amazing weekend.

Just to give you an idea of how popular this event is in the Police Community…teams from all over the U.S. including cops from New York City, Baltimore, Rochester N.Y. and more..plan their season around coming as a team to this tournament!

Anyhoo…My team (Catch 22) was sponsored by our sister station 92.5 Kiss Fm. We played in Co-ed C division. We played HARD on and off the field believe you me!!!  We lost out in the Semi-Finals Sunday afternoon. Considering there were 28 teams in our division..we did well.  I would LOVE to tell you ALL the stories from the weekend, but this is a “family friendly” site, and I wouldn’t want you to look sideways at me the next time I’m out. So here are some pictures…with captions…to give you an idea how much fun this tourney was to play in!

Catch 22 (back L to R) Ian Harrison, Dave Edmonds, Blair Boudreau, Greg Sands (front L to R) Mel Dempster, Tammy Hicks, Sue Borg, Me in pink hat, Michelle Pembry)

Our score keeper and as it turned out..our good luck charm..Shelley (she’s a dirty girl) but we still love her!

scorekeep.JPG

Shelley and Me singing the Rob Base song Joy and Pain. We sang it at the top of our lungs in the beer tent Friday night and we kept singing it, and doing a stupid dance with it ALL weekend.

 joyandpain.JPG

This is Adien, the son of Tammy and Dave on our team.  While Mom and Dad were on the field, he fell and cut his leg up pretty bad. Of course, he started crying,  so our score keep Shelley, turns to him and says…”do you want 10 bucks”? Adien looks at her, through his little sobs and says “What”? Shelley again asks him if he wants 10 bucks. He’s still crying, but says “yes”. Shelley pulls out a sawbuck, and says…”okay, you stop crying right now, and I’ll give you the money”.  And it worked!!! Clearly NOT Mother Of The Year stuff, but boy did we crack up after we found out what she did.

A couple of game shots….the first of Mel Dempster after hitting a triple, with Michelle Pembry (who was the base coach at the time) hamming it up beside her. The other of fellow teammate (and opposing team intimidator) Ian Harrison.

mpandmel.JPGian.JPG

This is Me and Ed Brunson N.Y.P.D. ( we picked him and some of his mates up at the beer tent,  and they came to be our cheerleaders at our last game). They were all so much fun!!! This is Ed after visiting the bushes to…well…you know. He came back to the bench with burrs stuck ALL over him…it was hilarious!!!

 burrman.JPG

After our loss Sunday we ended up hanging in the parking lot with some of the N.Y.P.D. Dudes in a makeshift tailgate party, before heading back to headquarters and the beer tent…and yes, we had  designated drivers!!!

(back row L to R) Ian Harrison, Dave Edmonds, Tammy Hicks (front L to R) James (ex Secret Service Air Force One), Christine Georger (and her tight little top..I mean who does that?? The rest of the Girls on the team are all in tees and ball caps and she comes looking GOOD??? Mean…I know) Shelley (the Dirty Girl you heard about earlier), Blair (who pretty much looked after me and Shelley all weekend), Me (with Lili Mae below), Ed (the NYPD Burrrrman), and Jimmy (at least that’s what we think he’s called).

 tailgate.JPG

Here’s everyone again…but this time look in the middle at the Girl getting squeezed by Ed..that’s our Pitcher Sue Borg.  I playfully called her many names over the weekend…none of which I can repeat here…but now I can truly call her… a friend!

Boston trip

September 10th, 2009 by michelle.butterly

I went to Boston last weekend with my BFF Jodi, and we had an absolute blast!!!!

We shopped hard core Dude…like…unbelievable!!! We must have spent at least 5 or 6 hours shopping on Newbury Street both Saturday AND Sunday. When in Boston you HAVE TO shop at Filene’s Basement, and you also HAVE to visit Faneuil Hall, so we did that too. Jodi bought a pair of Coach sunglasses while we were there, I of course bought a ton of Red Sox stuff..a new visor, wool cap, and a couple of waffle shirts for me and Carl! (well, I HAD to bring something home for him right?)

Our favorite restaurants were Scampo (at the Liberty Hotel), and Mooo Restaurant located right inside the hotel where we stayed…. XV Beacon. We had the Kobe beef dumplings as an appetizer at Mooo, and it seriously rocked our world!!! mmmmm

After all the shopping we did on Saturday, neither one of us wanted to do our own hair…so off to the salon we went! As soon as we were all coiffed, we headed straight to a martini bar down the street, and we drank Pop Rocks Martini’s!!! How cool is that right?? They rim the glass in Pop Rocks, so with every sip of your drink, you get a little extra pop! he he (photos below)

Another highlight of our trip, was our hotel. XV Beacon….WOW!!! It’s a great boutique hotel, located right in the middle of everything you want to do in Beantown, nicely appointed, but honestly, it was the staff that blew our minds! Everyone we encountered, from the front desk, to the concierge, to the doormen, and the drivers (they offer complimentary car service for their guests) couldn’t do enough for you!  They were so friendly, attentive, and the customer service was always “top shelf”! The next time you go to Boston you HAVE to  stay at XV Beacon!!!!! (photos below)

Now y’all know I never bring a camera with me on my trips, but here are a few shots we took with my iphone (fueled by those martini’s so there’s a little camping going on)…and a few provided by the hotel so you can see how nice it is.

Here’s me with my Pop Rocks Martini!

Me and Jodi & Martini’s

Ohhh this was the pub an hour later…me and my scotch.
